OT: New York school district has an android as a teacher now

I suppose it was inevitable.

Article below details, with video of course, an android appearing as a pert, energetic young human schoolteacher, ready to teach her classroom full of kids eager to learn.

The article gives a general picture of all this, and suggests many of the (supposed) advantages that Miss Android ("Sally" I believe was its/her name?) can offer.

And it's not dwelt on, but I imagine not having to pay a human teacher salary to Sally was very much on the minds of the school board when this experiment was suggested and is now being conducted.

But what about the future? Will the android teachers form their own union, Automated Teaching Assistants Local No. 1?

Will school boards buy or rent the Sallys of the future?

And after initial snickering by the kids on the first day of school, will they then settle down and actually interact with and learn from Miss Sally?

O brave new world that has such creatures in it!

Cyclone-ISU, if you're there, perhaps you would like to comment on your potentially automated colleagues of the future?
