There were many times in my life where I was very depressed and felt that life was pointless. Over the past few years this has really changed as I've devoted myself to search for my purpose in life. I now feel that each of our lives has a specific purpose. I have recently started a (blog) where I daily post what I learn about the meaning of life. Please check it out if you are feeling depressed or suicidal.
I don't believe that our purpose in life needs to be something grandiose. It may be something more specific, like learning compassion (caring for a sick family member) or learning patience (being mistreated). You are on Earth for a reason. You choose to come here to work something out. A large part of the Earth's population believes in reincarnation - that each life has a specific purpose. Please consider this. Take a lot of quiet time for yourself and listen to your heart.
I felt that way too then our daughter came into our lives and I found my purpose....at least till she gets to be a teenager ,then she wont want anything to do with me LOL!!!
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
I often wonder about the meaning of life. To me sometimes there doesn't seem to be much of a point to it all not to mention that it is unfair. I have read books on different religions and philosophies but haven't found the one that explains it all. If I had to guess I would say that love and knowledge are two of the most important things in life in that order. I do not know. I am still searching for the meaning in general and my own idividual meaning.
atedogs...Too late she already talks back and she is only 3 ....oh what trouble am I in for eh!!!!!

Chris, had a look at your blog, think it wonderful so i bookmarked it, i lean very heavily toward's Buddhism and stand firmly with what you have written, and while i am from a Christian Society, i see value in all faith's, there are so many similarities between them that i wonder why faith has to come up as a reason for war's and personal dispute's, God gave us many tongue's to speak and allowed us to build Culture's from our environments, and i would think that God speaks to us through these,
the problem lie's with Blind Faith, and the mixing of politic's with faith, at that point you get man's view rather than what God may speak, in effect it become's a form of manipulation
Meditation has got me out of holes that could have been the end of me,
Keep it going, i for one will buy the book if it gets published,
Hey, do you think you could post something to introduce this over on the A/P forum, i'd do it, but i think everyone's sick of my rantings for the day

Yes, I'm on that road now. I've got my own religion/new age section on my bookshelf. I personally feel that all religion is helpful. That is such a generic statement but it's deeper than that. I believe that all the similar beliefs DO originate from a common knowledge that we are now starting to understand. I try to keep a scientic eye on religion. I think it is possible to do this. Buddhist thought is a great way to approach being happy in life. For me though, it is missing the spiritual - the meaning of - life.
I love to read the results of studies that doctors do on the paranormal like near-death experiences, mediums, and most latest past-life regression through hypnois. The interesting things about these studies is that they produce consistent results. 1000s of people see the same thing when recalling visions of heavan, etc. I take this to be more 'proof' that having faith in all the inconsistent religions out in the world.
But that's just me.

Hi Chris
I think you made the most missed and most profound of sentences. "I Love It" to LOSE your self in that, is a great healer, a miracle that take's us to another place in ourselve's or outside, and lead's us to the very answer you ask for
I know when i write or working on a peice of music, i sometimes seem to fall into a pool, and it seems like this is where everything meet's,
if i can find what i have written about it, i may post it, you may like to have a read,
take care and i will look into the blog now and then, great stuff
