Hi Ladies,im having my ovaries out(hormones)march.10,and my bladder repaired.Have any of you had this done and if so when were you able to lift things again.My job is physical(lifting) Tammy

I had my ovaries out and a hysterectomy, leaving the cervix in. My bladder was fine, but I have pain with intercourse now. I think it's because I "excercized" the area too soon and created more scar tissue than I would have had DH and I not been inpatient. Lifting is no problem for me, and I'd think it wouldn't be for you after a LONG TIME of healing (and that means NO lifting for the directed period of time). However, I'm not that kind of doc, so this is not a medical doctor's opinion. Please ask yours.
Scar tissue has been a problem for me in my throat too when I talked too much too soon after surgeries, I lowered the chances of a full recovery. I think my voice would be more normal sounding and I would not have painful intercourse had I strictly followed surgeon's orders. Please learn from my mistakes. Scar tissue is irreversable.

Sorry I can't help with this, but just wanted to wish you luck. You'll do fine, I'm sure. Don't they do this surgery laparascopically? If so, the recover time should be a lot less and not a big of an incision.

I will be doing this soon too, so keep all of us posted on how it goes. It should be an easy surgery so don't worry. I had a hysterectomy but left my overies because I did not want to take hormones. (lots of cancer in my family) Im glad I did or my breast cancer could have been worse.

I had a hyster and oopher and didn't have to take hormones. and, yes, it can be done laproscopically. If they want to do an icision, please ask why. Perhaps they don't know how to do it laproscopically. That's happened to someone I know up here in Rural New York. Get a second opinion. the recovery time can be like a month with laproscopic.

Thank you for all your responses,with the bladder surgery and ovaries the doctor said no lifting for 3 months and my job said if im not released to full duty by may.30 i will go on a rehire list,i have been with this same job for 10 years and i am so stressed that i wont be able to get doctor to release me to full duty early.So i might cancel the bladder surgery and just do the ovaries.My bladder is a grade 3 and the worst is a grade 4.Im going to ask the doctor if i can wait a couple of years to have it repaired.Also what are some of your experience with having the ovaries removed.I heard that it puts you in immediate menopause.
