Then ... take it from there.
It sounds like you are a healthy young MAN; being tied to the computer can and DOES cause what you describe. It's just not healthy sweetie, you need a life and activities in which to involve yourself on a face-to-face basis. Get out there and live that precious life you've been blessed with; bet you'll see those grades go right back up!

The spelling of your name threw me, my humble apology.
Feeling better about things???

Hari,
Please elaborate, then I can try to help.
I have company coming over, so I can't stay online; however, I will log on and check this thread after my company departs tonight.
Take care! Try to get out of the house, and off the computer; I'm taking my own advice!!

I think you need to find a way to relax a little and give your parents more credit than you are giving them. I think you may be more disappointed in yourself (for spending to much time on the computer games) than your parents would be in your grades. I promise, Moms and Dads are proud of their children for many different reasons , not just good grades.I think you will be a GREAT cardiologist.
Did you get out today?? I hope you got out and about and changed your scenery, even it you only took a walk! It's a start. Hope to hear from you soon!

You probably get this alot... but PLEASE do well in school... and study hard. I screwed off in High School (I'm 25 now), and didn't think I'd go to college. My FINAL GPA through high school was 2.06... and probably the only reason I got into Penn State was because I'm an adult student.
Even if right now you're not sure what you want to do totally, or even if you are... do good in school... you'll thank yourself for it later. The better you do, the more help you can get once you get into college.
Being penned up in the house doesn't help either. I just started a new job and have no time to go out... but gosh I wish I did. I just started as a 911 Dispatcher (my training started Monday anyway)... and we have HOMEWORK!!! I get up at 5:30am, leave around 7-7:15, start at 8am... get out at 4pm... come home, do homework and go to bed. Ugh. But... it pays really good, has EXCELLENT benefits, and I get to help people.
Anyways I'm rambling (not fully awake yet).
But PLEASE do yourself a favor... get off that puter, and get your grades up!! Otherwise, you'll be like me and wish there was a time machine so you could go back in time and kick yourself in the butt for not applying yourself more!
Keep your chin up, and good luck!
Hugs,
Nikki

Hi anything....I was wondering if the games your playing on the computer are those "first person shooter" games the guys like so much? The reason I ask is that it seems there are many, many people that have an addiction to these types of games. And now since you can play them over the internet with your friends even it is bigger than ever. I am a girl that grew up with the original Atari, stone age right? So I have never really gotten into or seen the fascination with these types of games. However, my ex-husband would spend hours every night playing with his friends after work and on weekends. It was as if nothing else existed.
Anyway, on to your question...you just need to go at this problem at a different angle. Everyone has been saying to get off the computer which in hindsight is a wonderful idea but, you would need use of your computer for school work. And the temptation would be too great..right? How about doing a reward system with yourself? Such as you come home from school and get your studying done first thing then your reward for that would be being able to play your games. Also, instead of trying to just stop playing altogether maybe limit your amount of time to one hour and stick with it. You sound like a smart guy and just need to learn to discipline yourself when it comes to these games.
Good luck and let us know how it goes....
