I'm sorry that you are feeling so unwell - I discontinued Effexor last fall and had a rough go of it. You really need to check in with a doctor to let them know how awful you feel. It shouldn't be as terrible as it has been for you. I am of the understanding that there are a few different strategies they can try when you discontinue so it isn't so uncomfortable, not to mention awful. I followed the strict instructions from my pdoc and it was still a struggle, but for me it was more physical rather than emotional. If you're not getting results with your current doctor then get a second opinion from a pdoc, or community mental health clinic. It does get better and there is a path through.
As far as the difference between BPD and Bipolar disorder and specific treatment - a pdoc is the person to fill you in. If you're not comfortable with the information that you're getting from your current pdoc, then you should probably find someone who you do feel comfortable with.
Just a quick question - what other meds are you taking and how long/what dose of effexor were you on?
Take care and keep posting until you get the information that you need, Putter
Hon, I've been on effexor but not long enough to have the reaction you are when I came off. Only a week or two. I think Putter was on effexor and came off it successfully. I'm sure she'll post later. Until then, hang on and CALL YOUR DOCTOR! It is vital the he/she knows whats going on. There may very well be something that can be done to ease you through this. You will be in my thoughts and prayers EllieGood judgement comes from experience and alot of that comes from bad judgement.
Thanks for the responses....I am on 150 of Lamictal, 20 of Lexapro and took my last dose of Effexor today....37.5 I have been weaning off of it for some time....my highest dose was 450 a day......but that was over a year ago....I was on 300 a day when I started coming off and have been coming off SLOWLY for over 4 months......
I don't know what it is......I am just extremely depressed and numb. I am hoping that these are withdrawals and I will level out........things are quite hopeless right now, but I do NOT want to go back into the hospital. I have been there twice and I am not going back.........I just want all of this to go away. I want to be normal---be able to control my moods think rationally and like myself and not feel like a burden to everyone. I feel like I am SUCH a burden to everyone and my husband and family say they love mea nd want me here and I know they do......BUT I just don't think they realzie what a relief it would be for everyone--especially me---if I could just be free of this stuff......I don't want to struggle to live everyday--it makes me tired.
