KMD, I know just how you are feeling.  I felt the same way when I was first diagnosed with chronic active hep C in 1993.  If you contracted the virus, but were able to knock it out, you will still show up as hep C postive.  However, in order to know if your hepatitis is chronic, you will need further testing, including a liver biopsy.

The new "combo" treatment is very successful in eliminating the virus, 'though it takes a year.  There is a wealth of info in the Hepatitis Resources thread at the top of the main page, just above this thread.  Read and learn all you can.  Your next step would be to see a hepatologist or gastroenterologist with knowlege of hep C treatments.

We are here for you and you are far from being alone in this.

Thankyou. I really will take what i can get. I didn't know everyone would reply so quickly. I am grateful for that.
I am losing my mind. REally.
I meanally can't take it. I don't want to die.
They have although, started the next step of tests and i will find out most of them in 2 weeks, the other one in at least 1 month.
Maybe everything will be at 0 and i will not need treatment.
Of course, im 19. and in canada so i drank since i became 19. and i take (took) tylenol 1 for menstural cramps beacause of my lining on uterus. makes terrible pain. So for that - i am worried.

KMD, drinking alcohol and taking Tylenol do not cause hepatitis, but both are bad for the liver.  Now that you have been diagnosed with hep C, you are better off not putting anything into your system that will affect your liver function/health.  Having hep C, even if chronic active, is not an automatic death sentence.  Far from it.  :-)   As I said, the combo treatment is getting excellent results.

After I was diagnosed per biopsy, I began treatment with Interferon A, which is all they had back in '93.  The first time, I took it for about 2 months.  My white count dropped so much that my GI doc took me off treatment, after first trying a half-strength dose.  I tried it again several months later, and still developed leukopenia, so I took myself off that time.  By the time I had decided to try the combo treatment, I had to undergo bilateral hip replacements and a revision.  Left untreated, my hep C progressed to a large malignant liver tumor with metastasis to the inferior vena cava (a major vessel in the trunk.)  It is inoperable.  So you can see how important it is for you to get treatment if your hep C is chronic active.

I know you are scared, but at this point there is great hope for your disease, and you should be thinking positive thoughts.  You may have to give up some things you enjoy, but the payoff will hopefully be a long life, free from liver disease.

Please let us know when you get results of other tests.  Meanwhile, post whenever you like or if you have questions or just need to vent.  We are here for you.
