Prayers Please...

Yesterday I was at my support group and found out that two of the women who are usually there are in the hospital. Both are young with small families. Christine - who is 2 years out of chemo has been diagnosed with leukemia (sp??), and Amy is getting radiation twice a day for bone mets to her spine. If you could spare a few prayers they would be greatly appreciated.
 
As for me, I have a double mast scheduled for April 6. I am REALLY not looking forward to it, but feel that it needs to be done.
Oh, and I am STILL waiting for those curls!!

What? No curls? Or just no hair yet?

There are prayers coming for your friends, and for all those unnamed women everywhere who are fighting this disease and other cancer types. It seems like cancer gets more and more prevalent all the time.

The new had a story about the newest way to fight cancer is eating hot peppers, but it takes ten pounds to make a dent. Thank you I prefer not to change my diet, I like a little hot pepper here and there but it doesn't always like me back.

Chantry: Lots of prayers being said for your friends. There are so many new diagnosis each day. But the good thing is for those of us that have had a recurrance, there have been clinical trials that have brought hope w/ drugs used. I am living proof of that.

I am sure that you are not looking forward to your surgery. But it will soon be over. A young friend of mine that had the same surgery told me the one good thing about it was that she could chose whatever size she wanted to be!

Chantry, about those curls, do you have hair? I guess some people don't get the curls, but most with straight hair enjoy a brief period with curls. Even after my "bleach" I still have a great deal of curl, but not as much as before.

I admire your courage for the double mast. After all you have been through and now to do this, I believe that you are an extremely courageous woman. Will you have reconstruction at that time or will you go back later? For me, I had a single rad mast and am considering reconstruction. I appreciate following the reconstructionn results here on the board. It gives me some insight.Ffor the future

Don't forget to order up the PCE, and I believe it is Spring now and time for a little PINK shopping for your surgery day!

Your friends will be in my thoughts as well.  I hope things go well for them.  Good luck on the surgery.  It will be hard to lose your breasts, but when you think of the possible alternative, it's really a small sacrifice.  I actually thought it wasn't that bad not having a breast.  I could lay on my side more comfortably in bed, without a booby getting in the way!  LOL  Always looking at the bright side.  I can't remember - are you having reconstruction too?  I will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well.

Chantry, you've got it. Prayer is all I have to do anymore and Post and they're both an honor and a privilege.
Will be keeping your April 6th day in mind and all.

Thank you so much everyone. I am not very eloquent with words, but I hope you know that your replies have deeply touched me.

I will not be having recon right away, as I will be doing rads once I recover from the surgery. I seem to be doing everything in the wrong order (chemo then surgery then rads...), but my onco understands that I want to do everything that I can to prevent this from coming back.
If I do recon, it probably wont be for a while - at least until my DD is out of a crib, because I have been told that the recovery is a bit of an ordeal. I'm not very large chested to begin with, so I unfortunately will not be able to get a completely new wardrobe out of this...darn. Oh well, I was never very fond of wearing tank tops anyways!
