I've had a colostomy (thanks to Crohn's) for 7 years now and am now trying to get pregnant. I would love to hear personal experiences of anyone who has or who is pregnant and has an ostomy.
General Q1: Does your ostomy protude more (become more visible thru clothing) when your tummy gets big?
General Q2: After pregnancy, did you have any problems with your abdomen (ie. excess/stretched skin, a bulge that wouldn't go away) that interfered with your appliance? Or were you able to lose your tummy afterward? I've had 3 abdominal surgeries and a scar from my belly button down to the pubic bone and my abdomen has a "pooch" that i've never been able to get rid of. With this scar, i kinda have a "bum" look in my lower abs and am wondering how this will look after pregnancy!
Question for colostomates that irrigate: Can you still irrigate your colostomy while pregnant?
(i've been irrigating since the beginning and do NOT want to stop!!!)
I'd really like to know what to expect in general. Thanks!
