Since I know for a fact my gerd happened the summer of 03 when I took 5 rounds of antibiotics, I decided to try probiotics. Supposively, when you take antibiotics, you kill good and bad bacteria in your digestive system. If this is the cause of the gerd, it would make sense I need to reverse the damage I did 2 years ago. I have been going to doctors and taking meds for 2 years. Any thoughts?
Hi. This is my first post, but I'm an avid reader of this forum. Thanks to all for the excellent information. I've learned so much from you. I tried the low-carb route for a couple of days and found it made me feel incredibly well. It also made me feel incredibly hungry. I'm trying to cut back on my carbs, but old habits die hard. I've been reading a lot about probiotics and have started making my own Kefir. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take to work, but I really enjoy drinking it every morning and I'm not feeling any worse, so I'll continue taking it for a while. I've been taking Pariet (Aciphex) for the past two months and am now on a maintenance dose. I'm trying to wean myself off PPI's, as I don't think they're a good long-term solution. My doctor, on the other hand, feels I should take a maintenance dose forever, as I have asthma as well as GERD. Sigh. What's a girl to do?
