I've been meaning to post for sometime now so here i am. I'm just like many of you here this all started back in aug. really long before that i just didn't relize it the symptoms at first were mild and i didn't give it much thought. Back in aug. things got much worse the feeling as if something was stuck in my throat 24/7 and nauaeas all the time to the point where food was very unappealing. Then the sx just got worse by the day to the point i had to find out what was up with me. I was on aciphex prilosec and eating gaviscon like candy to no avail. Went back to the gi had the endoscopy everything looked good then i did the bravo ph test it came back posative so my gi upped my aciphex to twice a day still no relief.He then ordered the esophageaul manometry thinking that the les muscle would need to be wraped. The results from this test showed my les is not working at all and i also have a motility problem the esophgus isn't pushing the food down the esophgus. He then went on to explain i could still have the les wrapped...but it would have to be a loose wrap or i won't be able to swallow at all. Ok so now i'm scared don't think i'll choose surgery but he did rx reglan 4x a day thats 40mg. well low and behold it's not been a month yet and i'm feeling at 60% better so i go back to my gi on 2/13 and i really think i'll leave as is for now unless things go the other way. I really feel for you all that suffer with gerd because i too wouldn't wish this dreaded disease on anyone. God bless, Karen

Great, AuntKay. If you ever start to develop side effects from the Reglan, be advised that there is another motility drug called Domperidone that is currently avail. in most countries other than the U.S. You can legally order it online from Canada with your physician's assistance. If you begin to experience Reglan side effects -- anxiousness, depression, uncontrolled twitching or urinary problems -- please contact your doctor ASAP.

Thanks for the advice Laura, what type of urinary problems should i be watching for. The reason i ask is i'm having another uti this is the fourth one in the past couple of months ....but the first three were before i started on reglan and this one is a bad one. I have read up on the side effects of reglan wow scary! Thanks for any advice in advance hope you all are doing well.
Karen, the main urinary side effect that I've heard about with Reglan is urinary hesitation -- i.e., pauses before you are actually able to urinate. With Reglan, it's important to get to the doctor quickly if you begin to suspect that the side effects are happening. The doctor will most likely administer Benadryl. If left unchecked, some side effects can be lifelong. Don't want to scare you. Many people use Reglan without incident. However, the longer you use it, the greater the chance of side effects.

Hi laura, looks as if my gi may plan on long term use of reglan. He wrote the script with a year of refills. I'm not to sure this is what i need. My sx have come back even while i'm taking the reglan so i've been a little down about that.I thought i was getting better so i wonder whats next for me.I see my gi again on 2/13 hope he has a new plan maybe he'll just increase the reglan i'll know come monday this is really getting old here.
