My name is Beth Mitchell, I am a master's student in Health Psychology at the University of Derby; I am currently conducting a piece of research exploring online heart disease support groups looking into social support and other positive and negative aspects of group membership. I am partially interested in why individuals choose to become members and what their experiences of the group are, and have developed a questionnaire with this in mind; Peter Waite (admin) has been kind enough to give me permission to post a link. I would be extremely grateful if anyone with a little free time would go to the following page and complete the questionnaire.
Hello, Beth. Thank you for providing this opportunity for us. I am in the mental health field and know the value of support groups. They can be extremely helpuful. At worst, they can be quite toxic. Beth, I went to do the questionnaire and have a question about question #8. Questoins # 5, 6, and 7 refer to family or friends' heart problems. When the question. asks about "the treatment plan" is it still referring to family and friends, or our own?

Hi Kathlyn, I’M sorry that the question is not clear, as the aim of the questionnaire is to get as full an understanding of your experiences as possible, any way you wish to answer the question or any of the questions is fine, either with reference to your friends/ family, yourself or both

Hi, Beth, I tried yesterday to complete your questionnaire but the site refused to accept my data....Maybe it is because I am from a Canadian provider. It eventually asked for my student number. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi jan-BC thank you for taking the time to do the questionnaire, especially as it is not working properly, unfortunately I don’t understand why it is not working for you maybe like you said its because you have Canadian provider …..…….The page asking for a student number and password is for me to log in and read your answers. Has anyone else had the same problems? All I can suggest is that if you try cutting and pasting the link instead of clicking on it, you should go to the correct page (I hope) If this still does not work for you, could you please describe the page that the link takes you to so that I might have a better understanding of the problem?
Thank you again to everyone that has already completed the questionnaire! I am submitting my thesis in October and will let you all no what I have found then if not before.
I did not have any problems reaching the correct site myself, but perhaps as has been mentioned, that there is a glitch coming from the server? Anyone?

I’m really glad that everyone else has had no problems, unfortunately I can not take credit as it was the university computer guy that figured out how to post the questionnaire online.
The more I am learning the more I think you are all amazing!
