I have always used the dulcolax-miralax/gatorade prep. Does anyone just use the miralax without the dulcolax? That makes me crampy and if the prep works without it I want to skip it. I have to do a 2 day double prep since I can be prone to constipation. Really not looking forward to that!
(Getting upper and lower scopes on 6/2).

I prefer not to take Ducolax either, so I take small doses of Miralax every day about a week leading up the the prep, to soften up my stools. And I eat very lightly about four days prior as well. I wonder if that will work with your constipation issue though.
Also, if you don't want to do the gatorade, you can do white grape juice.

My constipation is usually from eating low fiber which I am supposed to do a week prior to the scope.
@dcafe -- that's what I was thinking about doing too! Especially since I have to do the entire prep twice. If I don't feel like I am cleaned out well the first one without the Dulcolax I can do it for the 2nd time. Thanks for sharing that it works without the Dulcolax.
@Michele -- I never tried white grape juice. Might give that a try for half of the prep to see if I like it. Last time I used Crystal Lite but that may have contributed to the problems I had with incontinence for the first time ever. What a mess! I bought some depends just in case it happens again.

Does your doctor offer any alternative preps? I did that prep for three of my scopes with the addition of mag citrate. That mag citrate is the worst! I could get the first bottle down but not the second. First time I puked it right back up, second time there was no way I could even try. By the third time I didn’t even buy the second bottle and I was always cleaned out enough. I did take all the laxative pills though. With my new doc, he said he does not like the miralax prep and wanted me to do GoLYTELY. I said nope! That was my first ever prep and I started throwing it up so I won’t do that one again. So he gave me Suprep instead and I think that was the least bad I’ve had so far other than having to be up basically all night because of the two step prep. All that to say, I learned with the miralax prep that I could get away with not doing the second bottle of mag citrate, but I am not one to ever be prone to constipation either. The pills weren’t the worst thing about it for me so I never skipped them.

I never use the dulcolax and just use miralax
The only prep that works for me is Sutab. Like others, I throw up just about everything and can't do any of the drink preps. My GI won't even let me try the Gatorade/Miralax concoction. But these pills are so easy and work perfectly for me. They are huge, though, so if you fear swallowing pills it isn't for you. I have to request this prep each time to be sure I can use it. I will use it until I die unless they bring in machines that clean you out while at the hospital (which actually exist!).

Good luck, CC, for tomorrow!!!!! I use Miralax w/o anything else besides 64 oz. clear fluid. My gastro never advised to go on low fiber for a week ahead of procedure, but to avoid roughage like corn, seeds, nuts-- stuff that tends to linger longer than other foods. You are finished with prep when King Colon only ejects clear liquid. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission pursuing periodontal issues)
Good news: I am still in remission and the biopsies came back already and are clear in colon!
Bad news: the upper endoscopy found candida in my esophagus (confirmed by biopsy). I never had any symptoms so this was a surprise. Doc started me on Fluconazole for 21 days to get rid of it. I never had any symptoms before the scope, but today I feel mild pain and some difficulty swallowing. I don't know if it's from the scope or the candida. Hopefully the meds kick in quickly.
That 2 day prep was wicked. I won't do it again. I was clear with the first day, but curiously the 2nd day was not clear at first (it cleared later). Next time I will use Miralax for at least 3 days before the prep so everything is nice and soft and then just do a 1 day prep. I was so tired last night after very little sleep the previous 2 nights that I slept for 12 hours! I did have to get up to pee a few times but I went right back to sleep.
Question: I found 2 patches that electrodes connect to on my back this morning. I guess they forgot to remove them. What are they hooked up to for a scope? They probably do it all the time and I just never knew. They monitor something.
