I am new to this forum and have been taking Nexium for about 5 months now. It seems to have relieved the heartburn but all of a sudden I am experiencing a very sore lower throat and it feels like it is closing. I have difficulty swallowing and sometimes my entire neck hurts. I am very scared about the throat cancer threads that I have read and I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I'm a little concerned that you said this is happening all of a sudden even though your heartburn is gone. I have the throat soreness but its only after years of having the acid reflux. It started way before I even knew what GERD was. I read your other post as well about your tongue swelling up... are you on any other medications that you started taking recently? I would check this out with a doctor and please keep us posted.

This is a new one for me as well. And I've been on this a long time.
You'll notice if you do not take relief for acid reflux in time, you will have acid backup your throat and burn at the larnyx area, but there is no swelling, and as soon as you drink milk, or eat rolaids that should go away pretty soon.
I'm thinking your looking at a different problem, tonsilitis, or a lymph node issue.
