Recently, I went out to dinner with 4 friends. We wanted to sit on the terrace of the hotel where we were having dinner because it faces the Bellagio hotel fountains. BTW, I live in the Las Vegas area. The fountain show is beautiful and happens every half hour which meant we'd get to see it at least 2, possibly 3 times.
I made the reservation and we all arrived on time but still had to wait for our terrace table. No problem. We finally got our table, very nice, round with seating for 6. Since there were 5 of us the extra space was appreciated. 10 mins. after we sat down, the fellow who seated us came back and said that we had to move to another table, also on the terrace, because they needed our table for a party of 6. Our new table was for 4, which meant someone in our group would have to have eaten with their plate in their lap.
So, we looked at the new table option, then at each other. I smiled because I kept thinking of our SA mission tour. I looked up at the fellow, really a young guy put in an awkward position by the mgmt. and said "no, we're here now and that table is too small anyway." He said, "does that mean you won't move?" 5 heads shook up and down like bobble head dolls. Then he started talking into his wrist (you know how they all have those things that communicate with the front desk). I could here him say "no, I don't think that's going to work." I just kept smiling and thinking about the SA bus. Finally, he came back to the table and started to speak. He didn't get beyond "Ladies...." when we all said "we are not moving." Once again he put his wrist up to his mouth to communicate with the seating gods out front and he said "well, that's definitely not going to work because the ladies say they aren't moving." At that point I couldn't stand it anymore and started to laugh right out loud. I couldn't even stop to explain to my friends why I was laughing so hard. But you know that laughter is contagious. They started to laugh and then 4 people at the next table started. It was like a chain reaction. I had tears in my eyes from laughing.
See how you're all never far from my thoughts. I take you with me every place I go. You all who were in SA on that bus tour must be smiling by now. Didn't we just have the best time refusing to get off that bus? Imagine what we would have missed if we'd actually listened to that silly busdriver and gotten off. No missions' tour, no beignets afterwards on the River Walk and worst of all no wonderful memories to carry with us in our hearts. Hugs from hot, hot Las Vegas, Luci

Love your story, Luci!!! And, yes, I remember that bus trip in San Antonio often and how spunky you were in refusing to take no for an answer. I can just see you and your friends at the dinner table saying you were not going to move. I assume the young man finally gave up. Thanks for a walk down memory lane and a smile. Hugs, Lauri

I didn't make the SA meet, but you had me laughing so hard when I read this that I think I shifted the stent in my neck. I've got to call the neurologist. But just picturing you and your friends brought tears to my eyes.

OMG, that is TOO funny. Yes, I remember that bus very well, since I was sitting right next to you with my chin on the floor of the bus. I was SO impressed.
