I was wondering how you were doing after your first chemo? I may have missed your post, and if so I apologize. Just blame it on good old "chemo brain"!

Hi Sorry for the Delay.
 
Did the first A/C on June 8th, it was fine, no problem other than tired tired tired.  I did puke once but that is because I had taken 2 stool softners, than 2 senok and then some citrucel drink on top of that, may it was horrible, I puked so much.  Sorry laides, other than that no problem.  today is day 7 since the chemo, so I figure 7 more days and my hair will start to fall out.  Oh joy.

Glad everything went well.  I know it's depressing about the hair but - in light of the whole picture - it's not a bad trade.  I wish I could send you a picture of my hair.  It's growing back (almost an inch long in most places) and  extremely curly.  I've even had it trimmed once and highlighted! 

I told my onc that if more men got bc, they'd figure out a way to treat it without knocking people's hair out!!! He laughed and said that I'd better be glad I had found such a nice wig that looked so real!!!  I love to argue with him (just in fun, of course). 

Being bald is not a great experience but bearable.  It's a time to experiment with other hair styles, colors, scarves and hats. 

We'll will keep thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers.  Let us know how things are going.

Glad to know that you did survive your first treatment. Sounds as though you tried a few too many meds to avoid a problem. As MK said, please stay away from so many meds. Take only those that your onco tells you to and pretty much as directed. (we all adjust them somewhat for our own bodies). Being tired is part of the treatment. Just listen to your body and rest when it tells you to. Trust me, if you keep pushing, you will suddenly feel like you have hit a brick wall and won't have any other choice but to rest.

Yep, your hair should begin to fall out w/in the next week or so. It won't be real noticable at first. I kept cutting mine shorter and shorter until I couldn't stand the "shedding" and then had it buzzed. This is one thing that you have complete control over - when and if you have your head buzzed.

Keep smiling and watch out for those meds!

I remember when Rita and I went through chemo together.  She was a week ahead of me, and  told me she had a head shaving party with her son.  What spunk.

Randi, staying regulated is often a challenge during chemo! I got constipated after chemo #1, but was fine after that. With my RN's blessing, I took a stool softener (senakot) daily for the first few days...then I think drinking Mylanta for the acid reflux was a help too. I also ate dried apricots to help naturally. That kept things moving just fine.

See? It was easier than you thought, and now you are well on your way. For me, chemo #2, 3, 4 were identical to #1, so it made it easy to predict. Hair loss is next, then it should all be a cake walk.....
