Does anyone remember seeing the reports a few weeks ago about statin drugs like Lipitor reducing the chance for recurrence of breast cancer? I saw it and then have heard nothing about it. She hadn't heard this at all. She wanted me to fax her the artice. I can't find any so maybe I just heard it on the news. The article was pretty interesting. I've been on 40mg of Lipitor for the last six years or so. There are also articles out there saying just the opposite and, of course, mention is made of the effect these drugs can have on prostrate cancer.

I read an article related to statins and colon cancer risk, here is the link. It did not mention other cancers that I remember, but we're happy my Dad is on statins since his father had colon ca. It said results were published in the NEJM.

Funny that you just brought this up. Today I got a letter in the mail from an Oncology Fellow at the hospital where my PCP is associated, saying they are doing a study and interviewing patients from the Family Practice and Oncology practices. The letter mentioned the recently noted connection between statins and reduced risk of cancer, and she said she is hoping to establish a similar link with breast cancer.
