O, did anyone know we can control our depression? I think not. Please forgive my curt behavior but my dander is up now. Anyone suggesting that those of us with depression can "snap" out of it are ignorant and in denial. Depression is a way of life, even though we don't want it to be. It's not something we can control and if it was, no one would have it. I have been told by a snooty cousin of my husbands that she, a NURSE no less, has no use for Psychs of any kind. She also likes going through my meds to see what I am taking and asks me why. I got really aggitated and told her to MHOB. (I try not to lose my temper) She thinks cause she is a nurse that she knows everything medically. I can honestly say that 75% of us know more than she does. If you live it, you know it. She is suggesting that I am in charge of my depression and also made the statement that "I am not the person I used to be", meaning that I am disturbed. If I weren't a Christian, I would have popped her a good one but I don't want to upset my "anger management" recovery. I worked too long to be in recovery and I will not allow a snob such as herself to pull me down. My husband says I should ignore her, but sometimes that is hard to do. Those of us who suffer from illnesses in addition to depression know our bodies and how we feel and trust our Physicians to help us and do the right thing for us. She say my Docs are nuts! I say she's outside her mind and SHE needs a shrink! OOPPSSSS. Sorry all. Lord help me.
I have to ask myself why I am depressed. Lets see, I have Lupus just like a lot of you. And lots of you along with myself have fibromialgia, degenerative bone and joint disease, epilepsy, spinal degeneration causing severe pain in the lower back, legs, knees and calfs. Hypothyroidism, hypertension, GERD, IBS, PSS, (progressive Systemic Sclerosis with CREST variant, migraines, chronic pain and a sleep disorder. I'm sure some of you have depression from losing a loved one or that your life is not like you wiushed it would be or that you are unsettled with your relationships and on and on. Go ahead all, I bet you all have as many or more. Why would anyone want to be so cruel and insult us like they do? I guess if they have a so-called perfect life that they can judge people. My Lord say's "Judge not, lest ye be judged" meaning that no one has the right to judge anyone. That is up to the Lord when we go to the pearly gates. GGGEEESSSHHHH. Someone calm me down!

Rosie,I am sorry for going off like that. I usually contain myself but I was at a sensative state and I guess I let it rip. I used my strong faith this AM and I feel better. I prayed for my husband too as he went out of town for 2 days on business. He worries about me when he isn't home. I told him I would be fine with my two caregivers here, (my dogs) I call them my babies. That's why God created animals. Some can be quite a comfort and I really believe that people with pets live a longer life. They have strict instructions from me they are NOT allowed to die before me.
I am feeling better, yes. I am concentrating on other things besides my health, (or at least trying). I will have to make the decission, along with my Doc what to do about the invasive issue with my spine and my spital cord. There are so many herniated disks that they are pressing on the cord and causing limited use of my legs and back, causing me pain. I just try to ignore it, but it is getting harder to do. I pray a lot. How are you doing. You never complain and you are the glue, along with Ginny and Mom and others that hold the group and Lupus together. I am grateful for that. God bless you all. I did a good share of complaining over the last few months. I came here with disc problems myself. The spine doc had told me there was nothing else they could do and that I had permanent nerve damage. Well . . . I finally learned that I should have been seeing a rheumie and things were getting a lot better . . . but the sciatic pain is trying to return Rheumi isn't sure that it is an autoimmune process but will watch and see what happens. He promised me that he would help me get relief from the pain . . . and he did.
You bring a whole new aspect to the forum . . . you have sooo many big issues (physically). Lots of people read these forums but don't post . . . so you are representative of many you will never meet.
Glad you are feeling a bit better. I hope you continue to heal.
