stop the progression

hi all, since this is a parkinson's forum, I wanted to share this with you all. My mother has just been diagnosed with symptoms of parkinson's disease. Can we stop the progression before it assumes bigger proportions.. Im very worried. please help
Jaylow,

Welcome to healing well. You mention that your mother has been dx with symptoms of PD.has she seen a neurologist? If not she needs to .Many other diseases have parkison like symptoms,As you know parkinson's is a progressive disease. There is some evidence that some of the pD drugs slow this progression, and exercise seems to help most people with PD.everone with PD progresses at a different rate .Many have it for decades and manage to live a somewhat normal life.I wish you and your mom the best,Ed

Yes, there are ways to slow the progression of Parkinson's Disease. Firstly the attitude, You must be positive that you will be able to survive the disease. How you accept the disease and learn to live with it. Exercise will help a lot to delay it's progression. This will keep your mobility and balance. Proper nutrition to maintain your brain and body healthy. Plus, educate yourelf to the disease. These factors will help. the medication too play a vital role. In the research they had done, the Mirapex if given in the early stage may delay the progression of the disease.
