Looking for first hand experience with using herbs for treating these infections. Do they work?
I used a mix of Buhner’s protocols for the 3 B’s from July 2017 until around June 2021. I only used the fuller protocol for about 2-2.5 years and then dropped certain things as time went on. During that time, I experienced slow improvement, but was still quite symptomatic.
Mold seemed to be a bigger problem for me than Lyme/co. I lived in my car from April 2021 - Sep 2024. I improved more during this period. I was able to move in the house after that and have continued to improve. I have experienced even more improvement and less frequent symptom flares since early summer of this year.
I definitely believe in herbal treatment and still have herbs on hand. I found a variety of approaches to be critical to achieving the progress that I have made:
- getting out of mold exposure
- Buhner’s herbal protocols
- lots of supportive supplements
- detoxing with a variety of binders and taking TUDCA
- long term use of Rx antifungals Nystatin and Fluconazole
- repeated rounds of a variety of antiparasitics - Mimosa pudica seed, Ivermectin, Alinia, Fenbendazole
Hope this helps.
i credit Buhner’s herbs with helping me recover to around 50%
i did a lot of other stuff - mostly lifestyle and diet interventions which seemed to help me the most
tried many many other things
tried antibiotics for 6-9months - but had to stop due to liver enzymes going way high
but on their own they weren’t enough to get me over the hump - even doing high doses and multiple combinations
7 or 8 herbs for lyme and another 5 or 6 for bartonella / coinfections
i still take them - becuase i think they helped
other people have reported more success - so i may just be a tough case - Lyme and bartonella and auto-immune issues - and you could do better than i with them
i think they are worth a try as they are accessible and generally safe and affordable and after antibiotics they seem to be the second most helpful thing that gets people well again
