Sun sensitivity from doxy

How do you deal with the increased sun sensitivity from doxycycline?

I went outside with factor 50, cap on, faced away from the sun and still burnt my face from the UV rays reflecting off the glass in front of me.

It is advised to stay out of the sun when you are on doxycycline but I don't want to stay indoors all summer.

What do you do? Do you have any suggestions? thank you
in my expierience minocyclin is less sun sensitive, so maybe swith in the summer month to mino? Or even just take a macrolid? I Dont know what you treating... but doxy while summer sucks!
Ran into the same issue when I was on Doxy for three (3) months - even though I was using what I thought to be more than sufficient SPF on my skin, it would still turn red (but not the same appearance as a sunburn). My LLMD at the time said the only thing that would prevent it was long pants and sleeves, along with an adequate hat. She was correct - that fixed it. She stated that Doxy created a sun sensitivity that was different and coverage was the only way to go if you were going to be out in the elements.
I often got fungal infections (eg candida) when I herxed too much and it affected my immune system. I think maybe you are doing too much with the antibiotics.

Depending on what you are treating, you might be able to just take azithromycin without doxy. The problem is that I found bartonella to be resistant to azithromycin. I was able to overcome the antibiotic resistance by taking atovaquone with it (a putative efflux pump inhibitor) but azithromycin alone didn't work on bartonella.

Be very careful with sun exposure if you are immunosuppressed. Normally the immune system will remove cancer cells, but that often doesn't happen if your immune system is busy with other things. This earned me a suspected melanoma which spread to several sites. Fortunately this went away when my immune system got better, but there is a risk that if the cancer spreads too much it will eventually evade the immune response, and then you'll have a very serious problem. You really need to be careful with sun exposure if you are immunocompromised.
I had sun hives even before my Lyme dx but astaxanthin really helped with sun exposure, maybe it could help with the doxy photosensitivity? I honestly just avoid sunlight nowadays so I haven't had much problem the last few years
