switching probiotics

quick question---I just switched to a much better, higher quality probiotic (Kyo-dophilus, does anyone else take that kind? We read about it and asked the health guy at the store whether it was good..apparently its the best kind??) and now im like totally gassy!! Is that common when switching kinds and doses of probiotics?
I take it. What is your dosage? Mine has 1.5 billion live cells per pill. Are you taking it with food?
Don't worry, it is common to be gassy when taking probiotics and/or when increasing doses. Start slow, take 1 pill a day and then work your way up. You can also take Gas-X. That usually helps me. Good luck!

BTW - I didn't know it was "high quality." Good to know, thanks!

I use primadophilus reuteri (also suppose to be one of the best kinds, because it has the same basis of the type of organism found in mothers breast milk and colostrum for new born infants to keep a healthy and balanced gut flora and reaches past the stomach and into the intestines) and never had any gas from it or the one I was on before taking this one. I've never even heard there to be any side effects, including gas from taking probiotics.

take care
I got gas when I took acidophillus pills, but I'm okay when I eat yogurt, so I think that maybe the type of probiotics you consume may matter in terms of gas and/or the amount you consume (although my yogurt is supposed to have a lot). Give it a week or two and see if you can ride it out and let your body adjust. If you don't seem to be geting any better in terms of gas, then you may want to stwitch back to your old kind. Better some you can tolerate than none you can't.
