Since I have been riding this GERD roller coaster for 2 years with no relief, my doctor really wants me to get scoped. (He has suggested this off and on for 2 years but is now being a little persistent.) His reasoning is since mine seems to be so severe and does not seem to respond to any treatment...he thinks it could be something "more serious". I have had a barium swallow test...wouldn't that have shown anything in my stomach? What could they be looking for?
I had a scope done in 04 and now im having one next week.Reason being im not responding to meds,so im looking into surgey.The reason for the test is to look for a herina,inflamation,esphogatis stuff like that..Dont get worried although im am I worry to much lol..

I've had 2 already, there is no reason at all to be scared of getting one..they really are a peice of cake unless you dont respond to the medication they give you, and then they give you something different. Upper GIs often dont see the very reason we are getting gerd, I know mine didnt and mine is severe..so they need to do further tests like the 24-hour ph test or the bravo. They will tell like outlaw said if you have h.pylori, inflamation, sometimes hernia-but sometimes they cant tell, ulcerations and such. I would highly suggest you listen to your doctor and get it done, its fast and you wont know whats going on.
