Dr's office called this afternoon.... CT scan is NORMAL, and tests for Lyme & Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever are negative. I just about fainted right there on the spot. I need to call the Dr. back though, because the CT was without contrast, and I just want to be sure that brain mets would have been picked up on a CT without contrast if they had been present. (picky aren't i?! ha)
So I guess it was option #1 ! (mild stroke-like event brought on by something) and I feel in my heart that it was that aspartame!
I still have a very slight change in my speech...but how do you prove it was the aspartame that caused it?!?! oh well, i am just glad it isn't mets. THANK YOU to all that came with me!! we all squeezed into that ct room just fine... did you see me smiling at you all?

I guess the only way you prove it was aspertame was if it happens again, it might suggest the cause....or if you stay away from it and it never happens again, you also might have a clue as to the cause. In the mean time, be sure to take time for yourself, such as retail therapy.

I'm surprised that you weren't sneezing with Cruella's feathers so close to your nose. I have heard that asparteme can cause brain tumors but the amount you had to use was huge. I've switched over to Splenda anyway. Most diet drinks are doing the same thing and it does taste like sugar.
After my mini-strokes, I have a problem finding the right word to say. My speech was halty for a while, but that did clear up. I'm praying that you've seen the last of this episode. And I am so thankful all is okay.

Fantastic News Stef! What a great relief for you and your family. Is your dr going to do any tests to see if you might have had a mild stroke? Okay, now that you know what it isn't, cut down that stress level. I lke the idea of "retail therapy". Please put yourself first and remember that you deserve to be treated as well as you treat everyone else.

I am really, really happy to hear the good news. Clear CT scans are what we need. Maybe it was just some flukey thing that happened, but something evidently did happen if your speech is still a little different. So be aware of your body and if there is anything happening again get to the doctor's pronto. Please???? How's the stress level these days? Try to keep it from getting to you. Hugs MK
I am so relieved at the news. Thank goodness. Stay calm and forget that dam* aspartame junk. It does eat your brain. Praying the speech becomes clearer.

Stress levels are the same... 50-55 hrs per week, but i have to curtail that back... i felt like i missed the kids way too much the last 2-3 weeks...my dear dh was home early to get them off the bus, but that's MY job! ;-) speech is 98% better, i do still notice a slight problem with s's...which is a problem because BOTH my first and last name start with S ! i will never, ever touch anything w/nutrasweet in it again. ever.
