The director of breast surgery at Sloan Kettering was killed crossing the street yesterday

near the hospital by an off duty ambulance! Dr. Jeanne Petrek was a world reknown surgeon and researcher and we have lost one of our best warriors against this disease! She was a colleague of my surgeon at Sloan and I had met her on one occasion and had seen her interviewed several times on NY television discussing various breast cancer issues. She had operated on several of my friends and they adored her! What a senseless tragedy!

Oh, how sad. She and her family will be in my prayers. Another warrior lost.

Hugs,

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one's friend springs from his earnest counsel.

Proverbs 27:9

How sad Frayda.  I saw that on the news.  She was said to be a top researcher.  Makes me shudder when I think of us crossing the streets in NY for our first mini get together.  Not used to that hectic city traffic.   (And we were walking)   Will remember her and her family in my prayers.  Hugs, Libby

Friends are God's way of taking really good care of us.

Oh my what a tragedy! What a loss to the breast cancer community. You just never know, do you? I feel badly for every one of her patients, friends, co workers, and US, too. We have all lost in this accident. Hugs MK
