The Rheumy yelled, I cried, and ...

She said that Humira could work quickly and I may well be feeling better quite soon.

P.S. Oreo - Thanks for info on the cottage and thanks Erin and C.Mama hope you enjoyed the "lighter" side of this post :)

So sorry Effie. Unfortunatly I have to agree with the Dr. here. You need to take control of your disease and to do that you need to go and get the TB test. Stop worrying about it and just go do it. :) We are all behind you here but we can't do it for you. Get on the humira and see if you can't get feeling better.
Glad you are getting check out for neuropothies. My mom has had a few and they are very painful. Right now she has about 3 spots on her legs that are tingling and fairly soon they will go numb as well. So far her feet are okay so we're crossing our fingers on that one.
I wish you the best with this. You are in my prayers everyday.

dear judy,
first of all, let me start out by sending you out a very big hug! {{{{{{{{{ judy}}}}}}}}}
and then secondly i will voice some nurse input to you which may ease your mind, okay?
  • i truly think it is WONDERFUL they are looking into the diabetic neuropathy! i was thinking that also myself, because she is right...CA pain is constant (typically) and is always there. but you were right in knowing that there is something wrong!
  • i know there is much, much more to what you post...i can tell it by your words, and that is fine....everything which is mental & emotional is as well physical too. the human body is complex and especially since you are a DM pt, you have to be treated EXTRA specially because ALL of your systems are effected. SO NEVER FEEL GUILTY OR BAD IF THINGS SEEM SOOOOO COMPLICATED...because in reality, they are!
  • this might sound strange, but i have seen docs use "SCARE TACTICS" and "TOUGH LOVE" to their pts to get them to "get a move on!". do not be upset now! your doc REALLY wants you to do this!!! you can look at it as if your doc was your hard-up aunt or sister you shows her concern by harping on you! i do it myself to my mom sometimes! (is your doc Italian?...just wondering because a few of my family memebers are (including my beau) and they are very GUSTO and PASSIONATE and they get a fire when they feel strongly about something! a good thing! as do the Russians (me!!! tongue ).  and also think "wouldn't it be awful if your doc just shrugged it off and said...oh, whatever!" maybe this is the push you needed judy!
  • JUDY....YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!  yeah  I AM ROOTING FOR YOU! IF NEED BE, I'LL FLY TO CANADA AND SHOOT YA UP! lol yeah

oh, lovely reference to "House"...you like that show? i do....plus looking at Hugh Lori ain't to bad either. (i do not know how to spell his last name, sorry) he is good lookin' i think....but then again i occasionally have a thing for those scruffy looking types! (also love Christopher Walken, Jude Law, Pierce Brosnan) my mom is like in love with House! she likes the beard, dirty looking, scruffy hair thing!(Mic Jagger, Rod Stewart).

me...well, my Joe is very clean cut and primped! he is what you would call a "metrosexual"; into skin and hair products and all, and into his physique! in fact, he is quite in touch with his feminine side! eyes hhmmmmmm? no, no doubt here! LOL! tee hee hee. but when i first met him i thought he might be a little bit "queer"! tongue because on one our first conversations, it was about "Boy From OZ" and how much he loved Peter Allen! but he is definitely a man man!!!!!  but we love ALL people and we do have a lot of homosexual friends mainly because....they are very cool & know how to party & appreciate the fine things in life & have a lot of class and good taste & are very much like the 2 of us!!!!! but as you can tell, i love people in general, from all paths of life...i even loved the Psych patients at the psych ward! very captivating folks! are you a people watcher? study cultures? sociology? psychology? i know you are an extremely intelligent woman and highly educated. what was your degree in? did you write dissertations? were they difficult?

i truly hope this post was of some help & hope! and i also hope it made ya laugh and lifted your spirits!

till later my friend,

erin

ps for D. peripheral neurapathy there are new drugs out, some pt take topamax, cymbalta, and or also use Lidoderm patches as well. Lamictal and Neurontin are also sometimes used...all are relatively successful & safe with just some rash warnings! good luck to you!

Judy!!!!! I'm here for you...I think Oreo and Erin gave you lots of great info, so I'm here to just say I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW!!!! You are not being judged and you are not being thought of in a negative way. We all have our downs...and know what you are going through!!!! SO, I'm sending you a rope of stregnth to help pull you up. Dust yourself off as best you can and keep moving forward without looking back! I'll hold on to one end of that rope in case you need to grab hold of it!

I'm so glad hubby was there for you!!!

I wish you much luck in feeling better!! Remember - you CAN do this! You owe it to yourself to get as much relief as possible!

effie,
you have a lot going on dear! we are all here for you! i'm not sure what you were talking about with your apologizing for a post....but do not worry! no one is upset and no one here is doing any judging of character! we all have our moments! look at me....stupid me put off a spinal tap for 5 years due to fear! you'll get the TB test and things will get rolling. you don't feel well! and it is easy for people who are in good health to say "oh, just do it already!" they don't undersatnd how exhausting doc appts are and even to get dressed and get out! i am confident you are doing the right things effie!
thats a shame with your husband and the whole benefits thing. how are you able to work? did you agree to this job he found you? you can always write about it here if it makes you feel better!
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Take charge Judy! It is not easy, the TB test itches like crazy, chest x-ray is not a big deal, spending all sorts of spare time at Dr. appts sucks, we are all pretty experienced with this inconvienence in our lives, but it is what we have.

While your Dr.'s approach may not have been very good, in my opinion, the message is a good one. I would guess that the Dr. is frustrated because you have the tools to feel better, perhaps much better, and you are not using them. It frustrates me too.

It all sucks, a lot, but you have to do it, no excuses. Don't let fear direct your actions. One of my favorite sayings, which I play over in my head when facing tough decisions is this, "What would you do if you were not afraid?".

... please ...
Effie, you might notice that I edited you post a little. There was only one word that I needed to delete. I tried to do it in such a way that most people would not know that I deleted anything. I thought that you wrote a wonderful post but the one word that you used to describe the Dr's could be offensive to other people on the forum. We need to keep our posts such that it will not "offend" anyone. So far this is the only post that I have felt the need to edit. I would also try and shorten your posts a little as sometimes they are very long and hard to read. Thanks.
Just to let you know, I am not judging you. Not in the least. Sometimes though we all need a kick in the pants to really get us up and doing something. I don't always agree with tough love but sometimes we all need to hear that people are behind us and really urging us on to higher heights. Hope things get better in your life really soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey! no biggie....i think i have let a few A*s's slip and perhaps a Sh** and an H E double hockey sticks here and there.
no worries here either
we should all keep in mind to be "politically correct" as much as possible.
we all are still for you Judy!
erin
Thank you for understanding. I am so deeply sorry for this error. I also apologize for my long posts and will keep them shorter.
Effie

hey effie! yeah

my posts are equally as long sometimes. i'm GUILTY! yeah how are you?

{{{{{{{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

i feel i write so much i should be donating per post. LOL
me too, how much do I owe you all for listening. I will have to make another donation to HW.

I probably "owe" too based on some of my lengthy posts - and I'm a technical writer! Being consice is supposed to be my specialty! tongue   But, when you gotta let it out, you GOTTA let it out - it's good for the body and soul when you just type away and unload it all to listening eyes. Ha ha.

Ok, this is like when we say a bad word, we have to put a quarter in the jar? Well, since I occasionally write "books", cuz I forget to remember to stop writing, I guess I will have to start an HW jar.

Hmmm, wonder how much will go to HW for a month?

hee hee "flopped"
are you flopped out?
{{{{{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
erin
yeah  Yep, Erin..all flopped out, can't wiggle or jump or fly. sheesh, can't do anything. Have learned a good lesson though, well, a couple of them.

1. I am not invincible..imagine that. sad
2. I really KNOW what my patients went through, when they had to ambulate with a stupid walker. I also can just imagine what they were thinking when I would catch one of them up , or out in the hall without it.

Probably something like this: "Now MS. Ihurtbad, you know you are not suppposed to be out of bed without assistance. Where is your walker"?, says Nancy Nurse Flopsie.

"If this nurse tells me one more time to use that thing, I am gonna deck her". Ms Ihurtbad thinks in her head.

Tables turned, I was such a meanie..lol

ttyl,
time for me to run to the front room and get my meds..yeah right.      (picture the Haldol shuffle, you got itL

flopped flopsie...hahaha

PS..Hubby is just as nutty as me. He just came down the hall yellin.."hey honey, if you will sprinkle some arm and hammer baking soda on the sofa and chair... it will make it smile. It is true , they just said so on the tv". LMBO

I think we have all gone Hog Wild and Pig Crazy!
