Tired of fighting

Diseases & Conditions Migraine Headache

I am so tired of having migraines. I always have a headaches. Everyone I can talk to doesn't get that taking an advil isn't going to cut it. When I start to talk about it and everyone is like we know we know your head hurts. WELL IT DOES!!!!!!! My neuro and my pain doc don't get it. They don't understand why nothing works on me. They keep giving me high dose pain meds and they don't work. It's not my fault they won't work!! They look at me like I should know why and I'm like I didn't go to med school! As soon as I do I'm working on a cure for migraines. Although after all the research I have done on migraines I should at least have my PH.d I mean sometimes I know more than the doctors. I am about reading to give up.

Hey Ashley-
Try and hang in there the best you can. I don't have any great advice for you. I can tell you that I understand where you are coming from and wish you the best. I know it is hard to have people in your life who don't understand and get tired of our complaints.

Have you tried one of the headache clinics??? Such as the one in Chicago? Diamond Headache Clinic...?

I know how much you have been through and we need to find you something better- what you've got right now isn't working.

I know that they have some financial programs at some of the places, and I know missing work is not an option sometimes-but if You miss some work now and start feeling better you will miss less in the long run.

Let's try and figure out a new game plan for you...ok?

I'm checked all the clinics and I make too much to get discounted care and my insurance won't cover any clinic like Diamond, or Michigan or even the Cleveland clinic. I'm trying botox in a few weeks so hopefully that will work for me. Then I still have a double nerve block that my pain doc wants me to have. I've been waiting since Dec 28 for my insurance to approve the stupid procedure. Maybe with all that I could have at least one week of being migraine free.

Well, I am glad that you have two options for possible relief at this time.

My insurance denied my trip to the Diamond Headache Clinic...If you write a letter and have a statement from your Primary Care Physician stating the types of treatment you've already had and failure of those and sent that to your insurance company you have a case and it's like SSDI, they almost automatically deny, but keep trying. I got a call from a friend of mine who did that exact thing, point out how much money the insurance company has paid for all the "failed treatments" and they approved her to go to Mayo Clinic....It's worth a try, and if you start now you'll have that option to fall back on, and it'll already be in the works while you are going to have the Botox and nerve blocks.

By the way, you have to keep me posted on all of the above. I can't afford either, but if they worked I'd sell everything I own (Except Tyson of course)

I'm pretty sure the nerve blocks will work because I had success when they did the trial back in December. So I figure between the nerve blocks in my neck and the botox in my forehead I won't have any place for a migraine to start. I'm pretty nervous about the botox but if it helps it will be worth it plus I won't have to worry about wrinkles!!! I am happy to report that my quality of life seems to be moving up. Right now (knock on wood) I am having more good days then bad days so hopefully the stars stay lined up. Give Bo a kiss for me.
