My llmd told me to stop binder. I have been taking MycoPul or any other binder. I am still on antibiotics. I can’t remember why but Planning on calling him back tomorrow. He wants me to start skullcap. What are your thoughts?
Patty❤️
toxic effects from 2 doses of Levaquin in 2008.....Xanax for 4 monrhs in 2008 (horrific withdrawal effects)......CDC positive for Lyme's in 2009 (prescribed 200 mg daily of doxycycline for 2 months........extreme fatigue, anxiety, decreased cognition, etc. and was becoming worse in 2012......tested for Lyme's through Igenix and was CDC positive.....treatment started 9/2012
depens why yon on binders? if you are living or haven been in mold, binder could help. If you treat parasties and stuff binder could help. But for the normal lyme, Bart and Babesia i think binders not working so great, and they can soak out some minerals and meds. So you need to clarify a bit why you taking binders...
Palermo, I was under the impression that binders were necessary to reduce and eliminate toxins from the die off Lyme and co-infections. I never thought about them soaking out minerals and meds. Is this a new thought?

i mean you should take it at least apart 3 hours from all the lyme meds... I never saw any benefits of taking binder to calm down the lyme inflammation. But this is just my expierience. For detox i would more prefer minerals that your body needs, and maybe lipsomale glutathion. Also most binder just works in the gut....
I looked up MycoPul. The ingredients are
Activated Charcoal, PureBind™ Humic Acid, Fulvic Acid G-PUR® purified Zeolite Clinoptilolite, Microchitosan, Silica from bamboo extract.
The doctor is probably concerned about the binders making the drugs less effective. Charcoal will bind to anything. Not sure about the other ingredients. Maybe some of the medications you are on have a long half life, so there is greater potential for binders to reduce that.
Some other binders may be better, like chlorella or okra powder. I don’t think they bind to medications, but I’m not 100% sure. Be careful with chlorella if you have mercury amalgams or other sources of mercury exposure.

You also might be told to stop binders if you are dealing with constipation. Constipation is a common side effect of binders. Eliminating toxins and other waste the primary way (through bowel movements) is much more important than the supplemental way (binders), so if binders are constipating you, then your doctor might be trying to mitigate that.
It is also routine to take binders hours apart from all other meds and supplements because binders can bind them and reduce their effectiveness, as others have mentioned. LLMDs should make sure patients know the importance of how the drugs and supplements they take should be timed, and help with scheduling if necessary.
Skullcap is usually taken for anxiety to calm the nervous system. Baikal skullcap is taken often by folks with tick-borne illness because it has antimicrobial effects for multiple forms of multiple tick-borne infections. Whichever type of skullcap your doctor recommended probably is unrelated to the binder recommendation.
I'm sorry your doctor hasn't been more clear with you about their reasoning!
Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, Mycoplasma, EBV
Mold, MCAS, POTS, CFS/ME, HPA axis
Herbs, DNRS, diet, nutrients, EOs
