Traumatic Incident Reduction

Just wondered if any of you have heard of Traumatic Incident Reduction.  It is a very successful form of client centred counselling that can work very well for depression, anxiety, grief ,trauma etc.  Google search for more details.  I have tried it & done some basic training.  I have had life-changing outcomes myself & been cured of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, effects from abuse & other traumatic events.  The guy who teaches it is called Gerald French.

Hope it can help others as much as it helped me.

Here is a link to information about TIR http://www.tir.org/metapsy/tirfaq.htm

I read that page and found the concept to be based on some of the same things, I used to develop a system to help myself. The method makes sense to me, if care is taken to make sure the client fits. Some people will not--and so do your own pre-study of your situation and the method of acheiving goals. Make sure it's a fit to you.

On the down side, it appears the practicioners do not have to be degreed counselors. I saw one of these off-shoot groups in the 80's. That's when helping people and some shysters figured out how to get around state laws, rules, and regulations for counselors/counseling. The one I saw was a flash in the pan--train facilitors, grab the money and run. I heard others did very good work. The website says this method was begun in the 80's and it's still here, so that says something positive about it.

All counseling is like getting a pig in a poke. You don't know til you open the bag what will work and what won't. Groups like AA, alanon, ala-teen and groups for other additions work without trained counselors. If this interests you and there is a nearby facilitator, it might be worth a try.

Just had to mention it. It's hard to keep quiet about something when it helps so much.

I agree and glad you did. People need options and for some who come to this site, TIR sounds like a good option.
