Been reading up on both of these for treatment of BP. Seems they do work (for some, at least)- & both have very little side effects. My cousin has just been diagnosed as BP 2 . He knows i'm into "research". Anyone w BP have any really "good" or "success stories" with either of these two? Thanks. Robert

I take Trileptal, it was the only one I could take without the nasty side effects of Topamax, lith and depakote. It works wonderfully for me, althoug I still have mood swing, but they aren't to the dangerous levels. no side effects at all, except constipation, and that's better then being bald, weak, acne ridden and fat, lol.
I have absolutely nothing good to say about Neurontin, in fact studies have shown it has little to no effect on mania at all, just like Gabitril and Geodon. IMO, your friend is paying for a needless add on. Trileptal is extremely versatile in dosage and can go very very high. If it's not working as well as it should, i suggest he call the pdoc and ask about raising the dose, and stopping the Neurontin. Most docs don't even try Trileptal and if they do, they sometimes don't know about how high it can go.
Of course, I am NOT saying it works for everyone, but neither does anything else.!
