Before I forget, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Well I saw my onc. last Wednesday for the first time since my hysterectomy. And she advised me to start taking the tam. again. She said research show it is the best defense against a hormone driven tumor like mine and the ovaries are not the only source of estrogen to the body.
So I am back on it and it is making my hot flashes worse! Fun, fun, fun! And I was so happy to have a clear complexion for the 1st time that I can remember. But it is acting up again. Oh well, I would much rather deal with zits than breast cancer again.
I just wanted to follow up with the info here in case anyone ever has that question again.

Thanks for letting us know about this. I had not heard of zits being a side effect of Tamoxifen. I had the hot flashes like crazy. My daughter got very depressed while on it as did another lady I know. Have fun in England, I sent an email to Claire. I hope she is home and answers before you go. Will you have internet connection? I'm in a similar situation (Hormone positive, and (I think) HR-2NU neg), and my onc put me on arimidex after my hysterectomy. He had mentioned before the hyster that he would be able to put me on another regimen after I had it, so I was expecting it. There were choices of staying on tamox for two or the five years and then going on arimidex. He said the research is all over about it, but "if I kept you on the Tamoxifen and God God God Forbid you should have a recurrance, I would look back and think I should have switched you." That was good enough for me. Of course he could second guess himself a lot and maybe this shouldn't impact on his decision making now if he does that frequently, but I was satisfied with doing the switch now. I trust his instincts. I'm going to be on Arimidex for five more years and was on Tamox for almost two.
