Update

Hi everyone.... I hope you are all doing well. I haven't posted since February so I thought it was time for an update.

Since my last post I went to my doctor in February and he put me on Lexapro. After talking with him I came to the realization that my depression was not only over my husband's unemployment but quite possibly Peri-menopause (I'm 43 years old so it's not too far-fetched an idea). I made an appointment with my Gyno. and after telling him everything, he said Lexapro is what he would have prescribed too. The Lexapro has helped... I am no longer crying at the drop of a hat, my family and my students aren't cringing and expecting a tirade everytime I open my mouth and I'm feeling "comfortable in my skin" again!

Now for my husband... HE FINALLY FOUND A JOB!!! He got a phone call from a local nursing home/rehab. facility last week regarding his resume I had posted on one of the many "find-a-job" websites. He started working this Wednesday in Housekeeping. The funny thing is that the day after he got the phone call, he received a letter from Social Security about his disability claim.... He's eligible to receive Social Security Disabliity! The down fall is that the job is full time so he'll make a little more a month than they said he's allowed. The caseworking is looking into how to handle everything since he got the job after the determination. He'd rather be working full time anyway so everything's working out for the best. I know he just started his job but he's already so much happier.... I hope it works out.

I am so glad that your feeling well on your medication. And also that your got a job. That's great! Keep in touch....

Well.... the job was short lived....my husband's disability got in the way and, after a week on the job, he couldn't do it on his own. The thing that sealed his fate tho was that he left a mop in the hallway(of a nursing home) which is a saftey violation (automatic grounds for dismissal) when he went to help a nurse change a flat tire(which he shouldn't have done on company time).

Something else about his diability.... We met a little while ago with a woman in the adult education field thinking maybe he could get some hands-on training in something. She spent only a half an hour talking with us before she told me she thought Ron was misdiagnosed... She thinks he is a High Functioning Autistic (possibly Asperger's Syndrome). Unfortunately, she's not in the medical field and I guess it's harder to determine in adults than children. I talked to my Mother-In-Law and she told me that he didn't speak until he was about 3 years old and he used to bang his head on the floor. He also rocks back and forth when he's sitting down (can't sit still). These are symptoms of Autism. I'm gonna do more research on Autism and since I work in the school system, I'm hoping to get some info from some of the Special Ed. teachers.

Anyway... I called Ron's caseworker at Social Security and left a message explaining what happened. Since he had been approved for disability benefits at the same time he got the job, we're hoping he can start collecting them now.

Oh well.... time for me to get ready for work. Thanks for letting me vent.
