Ok, after being on Nexium for 4 weeks I feel like I need to get off. My main symptom has been nausea and the Nexium has help settle it down significantly, but I feel like it's causeing other strange side effects. So 2 days ago I stopped taking the nexium and am using zantac instead...I felt fine the 1st day but today I can feel the nausea breaking back through... I took one zantac this am, but had to take another one tonight to help the nausea.
I was wondering if zantac has the same power and or side effects that nexium has. I don't want to be on this stuff forever.

I am doing the exact same thing. Zantac is supposed to be a "weaker" medication than Nexium simply because its an H2 blocker and not a proton pump inhibitor. Thats why some dr's recommed switching to it when one is trying to come off of a PPI (like nexium, prevacid, etc).
It doesn't work as well for some simply because its not as strong of a drug. I too am not feeliing all that great on it either but I am trying.
