i dont know if it is a migraine or not, i dont THINK i have ever had one. im 19 years old, my dad and my 12 year old sister both suffer from migraines. it started like 3 days ago while sitting at my laptop i got a quick jabbing, but not too painful, pain in the left area of my head above my left ear. then the next day i had a dull headache kind of all over, but not too bad, mainly around the eyes and upper nose, etc. (i got over a sinus infection about a week ago) anyway im VERY nervous as to what this could be, have any of you ever heard of anything like this. its like a quick twinge in the head and if i touch it or rub it it can go away. almsot feels like a nerve, i cant tell though. please help as i have OCD and im terribly worried about it. my parents think its nothing to worry about, my mom is a nurse. but i would like some reassurance as to if anyone KNOWS what im talking about. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
thanks for the reply. i dont know i kinda feel it all over...somtimes its an all over ache and sometimes i feel the twinge around my left or right side of my head. its kind of scary...im just really hoping its not a tumor.
Headache is typically one of the last signs of a tumor. Don't fret. They are rarer than you think. I have had a left temple (tension style) twinge, that starts in the neck and fires up like a shock. I've been MRI'd too many times LOL. Good luck to you
thansk so much. i got in a car accident 3 days ago or so (i beleive the same day i started gettin the weird twinge and headaches) maybe that coupled with my sinuses has something to do with it?
A car accident was what set off my "serious" migraines. I had normal people migraines before that and after the accident they became more frequent and more severe. It is definitely a possibility.
Try reducing your time at the computer/laptop. This helped me somewhat. Others' replies sound right--could be the result of so many things (stressors, etc). Also keep in mind that there are also many type of headaches. Hang in there. Reduce your stress, have lavender spray for your pillow, and maybe try some yoga/stretching exercises.
my head really hurts today. its like all aroudn my upper cheeks, upper nose, eyes, eyebrow area. my eyes feel real like heavy, i think its gotta be sinuses. i think the weird twinges i was having on the sides of my head are from my neck. i think i mighta done somethin to my neck when i got in the accident cuz everytime i move my neck left to right it clicks. im hoping that is the answer to my problems, just sinuses and the accident, and its nothing SUPER serious.
Hey--thought I'd check in to see how everyone's doing. Turning down the brightness is helping me some. My brightness control is on the front of my computer. There is one button for the brightness, but a separate button that controls the plus or minus to increase or decrease the brightness. After I've pushed the button several times to get the screen where I want it, the brightness box stays on the screen for about 10 seconds or so, then it goes off.
Only problems I have is that my husband wants me to put it back the way I found it!
I have also drastically reduced my computer time and my diabetes is under better control, but I still have more migraines than I think I should have. My doctor feels I have a "good handle on them" at this time, so I'm just documenting everything I can think of that might have a bearing on each migraine. They are milder and shorter, but I still would like to have more than 12 migraine-free days in a month.
~~Rightcoastsurf~~most migraines seem to occupy one side of the head. So even though migraines do run in your family, you might be experiencing something else. Accident-related headache is quite possible. Even if you didn't feel any neck pain, your head might have noticed some tightening of the muscles that help hold it in place. Try some time in the shower with the warm-to-hot water hitting your painful areas for several minutes. Then wrap your head gently and lie down as comfortably as you can, as quietly as you can. If it helps at all, try that a couple of times daily for several days. It just might be enough to relax those muscles.
Greetings, all suferers in your family need to see a cardiologist. There are 3 living in my family who have a hole in the top two chambers of the heart that didn't close after birth. This caused my migraines for 40 years. The cardiologist used a technique called TEE which showed the problem. The fix took only an hour in non-invasive surgery (thru the arteries in my legs.) No more migraines for me and my daughter. My grandaughter has the same heart problem, many do but don't know it. She someday will get it fixed when she is old enough. For years I thought I had a tumor. Thank God for my cardiologist, Dr. Ahmed in Johnson City, NY. No migraines, life is fun now. God Bless You and your family, -Bill
thanks i dont know if i really am a migraine suffererer. it stinks cuz my headache is almost all gone except when i shake my head i can feel it one the left side. i have OCD so i keep worrying that i have a tumor and my parents dont think i need to go to a doctor. they think its a combo of having a sinus infection last week, surfing, weight lifting, and getting in 2 car accidents this past week...but i dont know i keep worrying...ERRRR!
Are your pupils pretty much equal and reacting properly???
Don't worry..I'd bet almost anything you don't have one. No headaches, then a car accident..my guess is it has something to do with that..You are probably making it worse by stressing over the fact that you think you have a tumor.
If it is going to bug you forever, request a CT or an MRI. Then you will feel satisfied.
been checkin my pupils they are fine, not slurring words, i can remember things fine, no nausea, etc.
the only thing that does happen is when sitting in a car or sittin on my computer i do get cold feet and they sometimes tingle until i switch positions and move them around...ive had cold feet like this for awhile though... thanks for the replie jon, get back to me!
after hot showers i feel fine. my hands get cold sometimes while typing on my laptop for awhile and my feet get cold often and have been for awhile. i sometimes feel tinglyness in my feet lately but i think this COULD be due to me just THINKING im feeling the tingle or could just be the bad circulation. like i said ive had cold feet for a while now. hoepfully thats nothing big. i have OCD so its hard for me to get certain things out of my head once they are in there but i am tying. my head doesnt hurt like it did and i feel pretty good, other than the feet! thanks again for the reply, i hope you can continue to help me out! :)
I am nowhere near a Doctor or anything, but it does sound like your OCD has turned towards the anxious side as well. Being that you have OCD, and possible anxiety which could tinker into depression, why don't you get a CT Scan to set your mind at ease, or at least a Dr. appointment. They can give you a physical/neurological exam and tell you if something is not working right..at least get a Dr's point of view (if that makes you feel better).
Welcome to the Migraine - Headache Forum. We're here to provide support and listen. We're not here to diagnose illnesses as the majority of us don't have any medical training, just a lot of personal experience with headaches.
I understand that you are concerned about your head pain and the possible cause. I also understand that you have diagnosed with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
When I am concerned about my head pain I visit my doctor, explain my symptoms and let him recommend / conduct any tests he feels are necessary and make a diagnosis. I recommend a similar course of action for you. I take this action whenever I notice a "drastic" change in my head pain.
If you see a psychologist / counsellor / psychiatrist, I recommend that you discuss your symptoms with this persona as well. He / she might be able to help you distinguish between regular aches and pains that come with age and signs of something more serious. Nicky
