DO NOT go running out and buy massive amounts of vitamin C & E and think it is going to replace your meds if you are a Type 2 diabetic. IT's NOT!!!
But, the American Diabetes Association has study results that show that if you suffer from high blood sugar, you probably have whats known as "oxidative stress" on your pancreatic beta cells (those little critters that make insulin). Taking vitamin C and E can help protect what beta cells you have left in your pancreas. Its not going to increase your insulin secretion, but it sure may slow the degeneration of your ability to produce insulin.
So take a good multi vitamin. It can't hurt you, and may actually help you over the long run.

I can only please one person per day, today is not your day...tomorrow doesn't look good either.
Also, be sure to take the vitamin for your age group. Centrum Silver and other 'Over 50' vitamins are looking out for your heart health in a special way. Too much iron has been linked to heart attacks in men and post-menopausal women so these vitamin/mineral supplements are low in iron. If you're over 50 or a woman who no longer mensturates, regardless of your age, you should not take iron supplements unless told to by your doctor.
And Warren is right about remembering to take a vitamin. With the restrictions on our diets it's not always easy to get the correct nutrients from food so a multivitamin acts as a backup for the ones we miss.
