Well, at the age of 16 I suffered from Endocarditis, I've had a VSD all my life and have been told it would never cause a problem. However, when I was 16 I came down with the IE, made it through that trauma. Now at the age of 22, Just 4 weeks ago I suffered from percarditis. I've been instructed by several doctors and surgeons that I should have the hole closed.
Although my case is very uncomplicated now, because I only have one hole that needs to be closed and maybe some minor repair on the tricuspid valve. I was wondering if anyone had anything similar to this?
I'll be having the surgery at the Univ. of Michigan. Any feedback on any of this is much appreciated.
Hi Brent, Wow I am so sorry for all you have been through. I can at least kinda understand, I also have a VSD and am 32 yrs old. It was not dx'ed until Sept of this year when doctors also found that I had Bradycardia and Orthostatic Hypotensin. I had to get a pacemaker for the Bradycardia since my heartrate was staying in the low 30 range. The Hypotensin they have yet to figure out. I live in Missouri and there are some execellent doctors here. As for the VSD I have been told as long as I dont smoke or take birthcontrol it should be fine. I know it is scary when they are messing with your heart. Good Luck! I will be thinking of you.
