hello joci. steve here. not very familiar with the drugs you take. i understand being isolated to the house or even the bedroom/bathroom combo at times. i take a medication called purinethol (6-mp for short) and my stomach handles it well and (knock on wood) it has kept all symptoms under control for many years. i have had crohn's for half of my life (16 years now) and i have been on so many different kinds of drugs. once you find the right mix of drugs, symptoms may really subside. other problems have come from having chron's but the actual physical symptoms have subsided.
i saw in your profile that you love the beach. i do as well. my family has a beach home in maryland and i have spent many summers staying at the beach. the beach sets me at ease and it has actually in the past help relieve mild flare ups. i have been in remission for many years now.
maybe ask your doctor about 6-mp. it has worked well for me. write me sometime and we'll talk about beaches, medications and weak tummy's!!

Hi Joci and Steve,
Welcome to HealingWell!
Calcium is great for D; taking it on a regular basis can help control D. You can get more info from lnape's post (scroll down a bit, it is the long/detailed post): http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=26&m=366149

Watching what you eat and keeping a food diary might help you as well. You can pinpoint foods that are giving you the most trouble, and then learn to stay away from them.
Again, welcome and keep posting!
