Wedge pillow discomfort

Hello everyone!
This is my first post, so sorry if this topic has already been covered. I've been using a Medslant pillow(s) to help with nighttime heartburn brought on by going off PPIs. Trouble is, it really hurts my back! I've adjsuted how high I sleep on it and it either hurts the middle or lower back. I end up toss and turning half the night. I read about a pillow that is made with the NASA memory technology. I'm thinking of ordering that one, but wanted to know if anyone else has had this trouble. Any recommendations?
Thanks so much.

Hi Carol, just wanted to welcome you to the group.  I wish I could help you, but I sleep on solid foam rubber pillows (2) and I do great.  I got my pillows online from Penney's and they were expensive, but well worth it.

We can't even raise the head of the bed because it is attached to furniture and impossible to do that.  I think our mattress would slide down anyway.  lol

I don't know of the pillow you are talking about.  Sorry...

Hugs,

Faye

I have hypothyroidism (1953), diabetes type 2 (1976), high cholesterol (1989), gastroparesis (1990), FMS (1995), and GERD (2006).

Meds for FMS: Prozac, Xanax, Diclofenac, Cytotec (stomach med to go with Diclofenac), Lortab.

Other meds: Nexium, Cytomel, Detrol, Reglan, Novolog insulin, Novolin N insulin, Bumex, Lipitor, WelChol. Also on B12 sublingually, magnesium, Centrum Silver Vitamin, CoQ10.

Hi Faye,
Thanks so much for your response. I'll keep looking!
Take care,
Carol
Faye.....do you just sleep on them like regular pillows?
I would love to raise the head of our bed, but it seems like it would not be good for the old wooden bed frame.
Carol......have you tried to raise your head of the bed? I have a similar problem with our bed. I can't seem to keep all of my body parts happy at once! Let us know if you find something that works.
Yes, I just sleep on the two solid foam pillows like regular pillows. They were expensive because they keep their shape better than some of the pillows you would find at like Walmart.

Since my husband has GERD too, it would be great if we could raise the head of our bed, but it is attached to our headboard which is a big piece of furniture with attached sides and a big mirror, headboard ledge with places inside to put items.

Our mattress is too stiff to take a wedge. We would end up with our feet at the TV. lol

I'm on Reglan for gastroparesis and take one before bedtime too, at 11:30 PM, along with Xanax, Detrol, vitamin, magnesium pills, and Tums.

My husband sleeps on one of the solid foam pillows and then he has to have his feather pillow. I think the pillows were about $50 each at Penney's and I bought 4 of them online when they had a free shipping sale.

Hugs,
Faye

Hi, I sleep on a foam bed because I am allergic. I have special coverings for my bed and pillows. I also have a futon in the living room with special coverings.  My apartment management took up all the carpeting for me.

At the mall they sell these memory foam beds. I have seen tv ads for memory pillows and head gear. I live in the Northeast and a lot of people have MONEY there.

I got my bed wedge at Bath and Body but it is just straight foam. I actually stuck a piece of wood under my mattress because sleeping on the floor is the best thing for arthritis. I would sleep on the floor if I thought I could get up again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL tongue

The memory stuff is out there, try a posh mall.

That memory stuff looks awful to me. How can you change position, without falling back into that hole your body just made??
Joan........you must have different arthritis than I do, 'cause when (and "if") I ever make it down to the floor, I have to call the fire department to get me back up!!! ;)
Many years ago I camped through Europe and loved sleeping on the hard ground. I believe those times are gone forever!
Me, too Cathy A, sleeping on the floor with all the hip people is over forever. I could probably crawl to some sturdy piece of furniture and hoist myself up.

Mine is different alright. I was born with dislocation of the HIP and two "Bad" feet. Now my entire left bone of leg (the big one) hurts to the touch. I started creaking when I was 27 years old. So it is kind of difficult to deal with now that I am 61 years old.

The feet lack metarsial padding and burn a lot. I have all bad hammertoes and bunions, etc.  For this reason I have a handicap plate.
