My daughters best friend told me today that her MIL had a mamo and was told to come back for an ultrasound. They did the ultrasound and said there are two lumps,BUT to come back in 6 mo!!!!
She is in her late 50's. I have only seen her at Jennifers wedding, so I never talk to her but Jennifer is telling her she should not wait. What the heck is with these Drs? So if it is benign, she can relax, otherwise, get to fighting it!
Sorry, just really ------ me off to hear that! And far too often!
Had to blow off steam.....

MIL needs to be more assertive re: the mamo and u/s results. Remember we weren't all so willing to speak up early on in this journey.
That said, maybe she'd like to come here and read our posts, etc. It just may make her think about things a little differently. Or is it possible that she's an "ostrich" type and doesn't want to know the true story.
Just some of my thoughts on this kind of situation. I always think the sqeaky wheel gets the most attention. Drs. today are perfectly willing to let things go if the patient doesn't push the issue. Ins. companies make everything so much more difficult, so if the patient isn't requesting further tests, they're not going to suggest it.
Of course, if 6 mos. down the road there is a BC dx, MIL will have lots of time to think about how quietly she accepted their original "come back in 6 mos."

Geeeesh!!!! I deal with this too with my parents. Luci is right, We have all learned a lot. Dad always says, "The doctor says!!, " no matter what. He has had some of the very worst doctors including one that caused my grandfather's eye to be so infected it had to be removed!!!!!!!! Di
My parents were the same way. They NEVER question the Dr. and my Mother was mortified that I
questioned the Dr. when my Dad was ill. That was before I found all of you and now I am even
more aggressive when it comes to my care or that of my kids or grandkids.
You all have taught me so much. We need to remember we are our own best health
advocate.

I'm with you. My sister had that situation just recently and I am so mad about it. But, she's waiting even after all I've been through and what I've told her. If it ends up being something, I'm going to scream at her doctor for her!!!!!!!!!!

You know what bothers me is the fact that no matter how often I tell people A lump is only a lump if its had a biop. I always get that look. You can read it in their faces. You know the look.... The one that says she had cancer so she thinks everyone has it. Sadly, I wish more women would look these doctors in the eye and ask would you wait and see, if it was your wife or mother? Grrrrrr Can you tell I get so mad that doctors do this?
How wonderful it would be to see Angels where there are only clouds. How sad it would be to see clouds where there are Angels.
That truly is sad. I hear/read so much of these situations and the majority turned out to be not so good. If I were the MIL, I would insist on a biopsy. No lump belongs in the body. If the docs want to "watch" it, they can remove it, put it in a specimen jar and watch it all they want.
