Where do you start counting from for your yearly survival? From the time you end chemo, the time you were diagnosed?

I count from the day I was diagnosed. Made sense to me since that is when it was confirmed..but some of the ladies here do it from treatment or biopsy, etc. I don't think there is any set rule. Whatever you do, I hope you just keep on counting and counting and counting.... =)

Ask 10 people and you may get 10 answers. Your surgeon will tell you from the time you had surgery and your onc will count from the time out of chemo. Personally, I count November 30 as my survival anniversary...it was the day of diagnosis and as far as we know, I was NED at that point too. I do count from time of chemo too, in terms of saying that I am "almost 6 years out of treatment."
I think many of us count the day of diagnosis as the "survivorship" anniversay.

I had asked my onc that sometime ago. Survivorship starts on the day of diagnosis. I am happy to say that this month, I am now 10yrs/6yrs.

"Dâmn... that was fun!".
I count from day of surgery only because it is the only actual date I remember clearly. But, I started mentally surviving the day of dx. Like Gail said, just keep counting.

I count from the date of diagnosis. That is the day my world turned upside down, inside out, and backwards, and I refer to life as "BC" (before cancer) and "AD" (after diagnosis) based on that date. I remember the surgery date, the date I started chemo, etc..., but they are insignificant compared to hearing those words, "you have cancer." That is my date of survival.

My DH says I should count from the date of my surgery to remove all traces of BC since that is the official date of having no diseas present. That is what he does, since he is a long term 2-time survivor of cancer. However, I am more inclined to count from the date of the initial biopsy since that is when this whole roller coaster really picked up speed.
But, let's keep counting and counting and counting .....
