I'm usually on a couple of other forums, but happened to stop over here and saw this post. Wow! what responses! So, Zoloft explains my constant hunger, and I thought it was the Flexeril... I believe I will definately gain much weight if I stop exercising regularly. I have already picked up much needed weight, but don't want anymore....
Best wishes and take care everyone..
Many Huggs,
Vanessa
How is Hillari doing?
Hello everyone...everything is okay here. I've been really busy getting ready for a work project so I haven't been able to post as usual.
I am going to talk to my psychiatrist about coming off Zoloft. I have to get some of this weight off!!!! I guess I'm just going to have to tough it out until I can lose some weight and then go back on the minimal dose if necessary. I hate having to choose but I can't be this heavy anymore.
Otherwise things are good. Have a great weekend!
Mekkie, I just wanted to say that I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad and for so long. I was on Zoloft also and only had about 2 and 1/2 weeks of side effects. I was wondering if you have been to see your physician regarding this? Maybe something else is going on medically? Did you family doctor or a psychiatrist prescribe the Zoloft? I am wondering as for people that do have side effects that are unbearable as you have described, if this is what it is, than there is medication that they can order for this (it is a benzatropine type med). Maybe trying inquiring if this is a possibility for you. I hope that you start to feel better real soon.

Snickersmom, go o slow as we all know. I was trying to find the post I was reading yesterday about tapering off meds and how slow you should really go. It told how to break it down according to a indivaulals weight I think or something it was very interseting and about why you don't want to go cold turkey because of the side effects that you will encounter and how they may stay with you or return. I hope mekkie is doing okay, I get worried when she hasn't posted fro awhile, expecially when she seemed so discouraged!!!
Mekkie if your are reading the posts, just let us know how your doing if you feel up to it! We're here you and care about you!! You said you felt as thow you may be being a downer, NOT AT ALL!~!!!!! We want to hear from you and help you through this difficult time the best we can!!
Best to everyone!
Oh Nivram tell me about the hairloss ...my sink was full my boyfriend has recently unblocked them all i think there was enough hair to make a wig LOL !!! All my bald patches are in recovery hahhaha!!
Snickersmom good luck in lowering your zoloft.
Maybe its too personal but what kinda ocd thoughts have you had?? I watched a program about people who suffer from it ...one woman she was so scared to throw anything in the rubbish she had to go through all her rubbish about 5 or 6 times before she would finaly throw it away, her only help to overcome this was therapy ofcourse..confrontation her therapist made her confront her fear and throw little bits of paper in the rubbish everyday till she stopped been scared.THis won her fear over. It might all be old news to you and maybe no help at all,but i have fears and im just learning now that i should just go with my feeling and confront those fears before it becomes an obsession.
i dont know if i made any sence but i hope you the best happiness in life and you will get there soon believe me. We all will
Well everyone...I started on my 50mgs of Zoloft today. I have an appointment with my doctor in a couple of weeks and I've just about decided that I have no other choice but to come off the Zoloft. My weight is out of control and I can't tolerate it any longer. I'm really scared but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I could tolerate all of the other side effects of coming off the Zoloft except my OCD thoughts coming back.
This is my first time online. I stopped Zoloft cold turkey two weeks ago. It has been quite difficult, nausea, brain freeze, dizziness, and stomach problems. I stopped it because of the fact that I am hooked on these pills. I also absolutely hate the weight gain. I went on it 3 years ago, to deal with my mothers cancer. I quickly put on 10 pounds and during the course of the next two years gained a total of 18 pounds. My mother died a year and a half ago, and I do believe that the Zoloft got me through it, but now I must learn to deal with problems without having to resort to pills. In two weeks, I have lost 4 pounds, which I am so happy about. I never consulted a doctor about stopping cold turkey. My husband made me call him today because of my withdrawal symptoms. I will let you know later on what he tells me. It brought me so much comfort to read all of your stories and comments. You are helping so many. Thank you, trully!
Welcome Ale!
Yes, we are never encouraged or encourage others to stop any medication of any kind cold turkey. I've tapered myself from 150 mgs. to 50 mgs. over the past two or three months and only this week started the 50 mgs. If you need to talk to people who have been through the withdrawal, you've come to the right place. It's amazing how these "miracles" can completely screw up your mind and body! Just hang in there...we are all in this together.
I'm to see my doctor in about two weeks and I have to tell him to take me off Zoloft completely so I can lose some of this weight I've gained. I know I won't lose all of it but if I could just lose half, I would be so happy. I take Zoloft for treatment of OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). I'm frightened that my obsessional thoughts will return but I'm really at a point where I don't have any other choice.
I think we are all frustrated by the weight gain caused by this drug and it's nice to have a place where you realize that the weight gain is, for the most part, not your fault but the fault of the medication.
So again, welcome.
Hello to all the regulars. How is everyone doing?
Hey guys!!!!
It took me this long to realize that they locked the other page!! i know i can be so duh sometimes! anyway i have been good, have my moments from time to time, but who doesn't. Feb. 4 will be 3 months off the meds and i have only lost 2-3 pounds
!!!!! this whole weight thing is driving me up the wall and i notice that as each day passes i grow more and more angry and have become absolutly obsessed with my whole weight gain situation. The people around me are becoming aggrevated with my obsession. i can't help it!!! and i think i am so obsessed because i have no clue how long it will take the weight to come off. if i had a time frame i would feel better. don't get me wrong, i feel much different weight wise now since coming off the meds. I must have lost a majority of my water weight because i am not nearly as swollen and i do look a little, and i emphasize little, skinner these days. but not to much showing on the scale. And then i hear about people losing 5-7 ponds after the first month or two coming off the med. i just want to know when it is my turn. i feel like i have been waiting patiently, but then i think about it and think to myself if i am being fair to think that 3 months is long enough to see any change? what do you guys think? Am i jumping the gun here? should i be more patient? how long do you guys think? has anyone come accross any information reguarding getting back to normal after zoloft? i would really value your opinion so please respond if you get a chance.
Mentally i feel great. i hope everyone is getting along ok and i am going to go back and read all the posts on this forum to catch up with everyone's progress. Good to find you all again and keep your heads up!!!!
