Yes, I know of Risperdal and your right it is a low dose at 1mg. They have some newer medications out now that maybe more beneficial to you if you decide to go back to the doctor and give it another try.
My little brother has Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar Disorder too. Quite a combination huh? He goes on and off meds all the time. It is very difficult to control it without medication.
