I do not have any of the vacs or powders or packing.. went to a colo-rectal surgeon through balt/wash medical center.. usually go to university (did go to johns hopkins)
My sister has colorectal cancer - stage 3. She has had her rectum removed and anus has been sewed closed. She is in the middle of chemo/radiation treatments. She has had 2 months of just chemo. She just started radiation in addition to chemo and has been experiencing severe vaginal burning and itching. The radiation oncologist told her it is too soon for reaction from radiation (she's had 2 weeks treatments). Has anyone experienced this and how were you able to obtain relief?
Hello- gotta have the same surgery (for stage 3 T3 cancer) and chemo and radiation myself- going to start the chemo next week and radiation too i guess- for the burning and itching- maybe try some hydrocortisone 1% cream you can pick up in drug stores- that will definitely help with itching, and help heal as well- Hydrocortisone with aloe can be quite soothing too if you aren't allergic to aloe- i am- so i have to avoid it- They actually recommend Hydrocortisone cream on several cancer sites for radiation burning- also use skin moisturizers to keep the skin hydrated-
