I haven’t been on here in forever. Did the forums shut down and start back up? Well either way. I wanted to say hello to everyone. I have officially had UC for 29 years, never had to use steroids, flares mainly hormonal/stress related, taking 4 pills of mesalamine nightly and get a scope every 2 years. Any other long timers still here?
Hi there! Yes there are still some long timers on here. The forums shut down only briefly; the main change was that they had a total revamp.
I’m here. The forum has not had a lot of activity for awhile.
almost 30 years w UC. When first dx, this forum was SO HELPFUL, in fact after seeing some posts about nicotine patches putting folks into remission I tried it and it was miraculous! History of 2nd hand exposure to smoke. WOrked great for 18 months. Women who smoke, then quit, 30% more likely to get UC, there is a link: eczema-UC-nicotine and I have all of those. Last 5 years Entyvio has been a miracle, but now I have lung inflammation, infections and other exposures have been ruled out. Really disappointed, two decades of suffering with no remission was brutal to my life. Wondering what to take next, thinking Rinvoq bc it also is prescribed for eczema and UC, but the side effects seem scary. Will get CT scan next week then months later appt w GI and/or pulmonologist bc healthcare so jacked up where I live (NM, US) Meanwhile, just got QVAR in haler and MY GOD I can breath again. Not sure how damaged my lungs are, was hacking up sputum chunks for quite a while and was dx as GERD, which I now think it totally incorrect.
“Women who smoke, then quit, 30% more likely to get UC”
Well that is interesting. I did once smoke, back in my 20s.
