Does anyone have any problem with their pap smears coming back abnormal? Off and on since being diagnosed, I get abnormal pap smears back. This was the second year in a row. My GYN isn't too worried about it, but doesn't have an explanation. I'm HPV negative.
I just wondered if there was any connection to Crohns.

"CONCLUSIONS:
Women with IBD have a higher risk of an abnormal Pap smear compared with healthy controls. Patients with immunomodulator use have a higher risk of an abnormal Pap smear associated with HPV infection. Women with IBD should be included in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology screening guidelines for immunocompromised individuals."

Yes, I have had them. I followed through to get fully cleared with colposcopy. It's frustrating but it is common with IBD from what I was told. I would still rather be safe then sorry later for not getting it fully checked.
