I've been in my flare since early September. I've tapered to Prednisone 20 mg and have been generally feeling better. (Also taking Pentasa, see below). But, last few weeks having lots of D, mild to moderate pain, etc. My GI has me taking Immodium three times a day and will increase Pred and re-start antibiotics on Monday if I'm not better.
Before all this, I thought of Immodium as a bad thing -- a sign that all is not well -- seems strange to go backwards. And, this is more than I have ever taken before. Anyone else use Immodium regularly? Is it a regular part of having CD?
Thanks for any advice.

I agree with your thoughts, 3/day seems like alot to me. I was told by my GI to only take 1 when I absolutely have to (special occasion/travel). I have taken 1 on a few occasions and it worked. I can imagine what would happen if I took 3/day for a few days. We are all different, maybe your situation requires that. I would check further into it, get a second opinion from another DR. Maybe someone with more immodium experience will come along. I wish you the best with it.

I was told taking that too much for too long can cause toxic mega colon, but I did it anyways.
I took 2 pills in the AM before work to aid my "peace of mind", it worked for 5 months, then I got use to it I guess and it died out.
I never took it on weekends to give my insides a break. Everyone is different tho. The way I look at it, if it has to get out a lot, then let it.
Keeping it locked up will cause a blockage or something I think and that could be bad.
Good luck and best wishes!

Tried Pentasa and Entocort, worked for a yr and a bit
Now on prednisone 40mg and going crazy!
i went to my doctor on Monday, becauese i was haveing loose stools at night while i was in bed. and he told me to take 2 immodium tablets a day. i tried that for one day. Plugged me up big time with a gut ache. so i am back to one aday.
Thanks for the feedback. I do worry about "blocking things up" and masking what's really going on. I need to talk to the GI Monday anyway and will discuss further.
