Ankle Arthroscopy resuming Discus throwing

Sawadee, Greetings from Thailand:

Trying to do a little research here on this topic. According to the literature, a return to strenuous sport can take place 4-6 post op... however, it depends on the recovery and strength of the ankle. I'm in a non-English speaking country and the communication between me and the MD is not clear. I tried to ask if I could return to throwing he said NO...
Comments, insights, suggestions?

Hello & welcome to the forum. I did some looking around too & really could not come up with anything useful. I can only say you need to listen to the dr. Everyone is different with surgery, a lot depends on what the dr found during surgery. If your surgery is recent, perhaps give yourself complete time to heal & then revisit with the dr about resuming this activity.

I'm sorry I can't help more.

Dear Susie,

Thank you for your response and insight. Yes, listening to the MD is essential for recovery and of course following his protocols. Yet, in the field of sports medicine which is not available here in south of Thailand, I believe the focus and rehab would be different. YES, I plan on a long recovery process... After the required PT I will continue swimming and try to resume kicking drills for flexibility. Then perhaps by December, I will head on out to the ring..
