Hi wonderful people!
I am new to this site, although I've lurked for...years. I have Lyme & Co, probably for at least 15 years. I grew up in rural Connecticut in the 70s/80s, and then moved to North Carolina, where I was actually bit on several occasions by ticks. I don't recall any bites in Connecticut, but I was a kid, and probably not on the look out for them.
Anyway, have used many of Buhner's herbs with minimal success, mainly likely due to my inability to be consistent. The lyme-brain is so bad, it's like ADHD X 1000, or like someone threw my brain against a wall. I'm sure you all know what I mean.
So, I am going to be trying some abx, finally, to see if I can get a grip on the brain issues, and then maybe switch back to Buhner's later, or perhaps Byron White. Besides the lyme-brain, my biggest issue is light sensitivity/blurriness which came on suddenly a few years ago. I attribute it to Babs & Bart, and was wondering which abx might help with that.
I know in Buhner's book he says that Rifampin plus Doxy, I think, can clear up visual issues from Bart. My doctor, however, wants to start targeting the lyme-brain first with IM Rocephin, Zithro, and Tindemax together. I wonder if those might help with the visual blurriness/sensitivity at all.
Again, thanks so much to all of you here for sharing your experience and wisdom. I appreciate any thoughts/suggestions.

Hi Savena - did you end up doing the Zhang protocol that you posted about previously?
The best antibiotic for your symptoms would be one that targets the specific infection that is causing your eye issues.
A good protocol for bart is Rifampin/Rifabutin and minocycline.
For Babesia - the anti malarial Mepron plus an antibiotic (mino, or Azithromycin..are a couple) is a good treatment.
Do you have a LLMD to guide your treatment?

I did do the Zhang protocol for a bit, but either it didn't help or I wasn't consistent enough. Funny--that must have been a while ago because I don't even recall posting that. There's my memory. I was thinking of Rifampin maybe with Zithro? I can't tolerate minocycline--caused terrible vertigo. Just wondered if anyone had their blurry vision EVER clear up, or if it's permanent. Thanks!

I doubt if it's permanent. I had my eyes checked - the visual fields test included.
Have you seen an optometrist about your eyes?

I took doxy for one month upon initial symptom presentation and haven't had photophobia since Oct. 2015 (100mg am/pm).
However, my vision is still blurred, especially in low light, but it's better than it was three years ago, yet worsens dramatically if I eat unhealthy foods or enter a moldy environment.

My visual symptoms have gotten a lot better as I've treated the infections. I used to get a lot of blurriness. Often it gets worse when I'm on effective meds, I think that is part of the herx amplifying underlying symptoms. Blurriness doesn't seem to be an uncommon symptom with these infections, and far as I can tell for most people seems to resolve with effective treatment of the infections.
Bluelyme, do you do much rifing? I just started last week on Lyme/Bart/Babesia, as well as a few other infections. I hadn't heard of toxoplasmosis damaging the eyes. I will have to look into it. I also have issues from once having an injection of botox between the eyebrows. I think it triggered my Lyme disease. I was thinking of rifing that too, but don't want to do too much too fast.
ya its easy to over rife i got way zealous at first then found my rhythm ...i used dr franz method of finding all pathogens( 9) via kinesiology then made a schedule of 2 or 3 a day for 10 days take 2 off the rinse and repeat ...i did this with bvt and herbs for about a year (both contact and plasma )...toxo is prevalent if ever exposed to a cat ...and easy to rife for as its only a few frequencys ...the eye socket pain stopped and vision came back after about 2 months on toxo 3 sessions a week ...
