anybody have trouble sleeping?

I did for ahwile, but have seemed to get over it with the help of tylenol pm. but whatelse helps me is a fan. it is a really calming sound, as silence sometimes can be scary i think. but the sound of a fan, even at low speed seems to just calm me down and helps me sleep through the night. even on cold nights, i'll have it on. what helps everybody else calm down while they are sleeping?
I too like a cooler room. It seems to cause the hybernation mode that helps me sleep.

I did go through several months with a lot of pain and insomnia. When I would finally fall asleep, the pain awoke me. My doc prescribed amitriptylene (a low dose of a tricyclic anti-d) which I take in addition to lexapro. I take it at night and it is supposed to reset your sleep clock. Well it has worked great for me. The big bonus is that we heal in our deep sleep so (especially for a chronically ill person) a nice long sleep every night is terribly important.

When I go to sleep praying (trying to name each person here that I have met . . .and my children and church friends etc. ), I usually fall asleep before I finsih. I'm not proud of that . . . but prayer does that to me.

This should be an interesting string.

Whenever I have trouble falling asleep, I will turn the TV on to the weather channel and make it barely audible. It works every time.

well for me i noticed its good to always go to sleep at the same time , like for me its 12 AM, no matter what is going on i always tell my body to shut down and unwind at 12 AM, so it becomes like a system. in the past i used to delay the time to sleep to wait for my body to get sleepy this didn't work because depending on what i was doing i could be watching a horror movie for instance or eating somethign heavy or anything that makes my body not focus on being sleepy. so i try now to control the time of sleep everyday at a set time, my body seems to adjust to this its not eazy but seems to work on the long run.
