aw dang

Ughh so sunday is my birthday but my friend brought me some hershey kisses and balloons since she wont see me on Sunday. and I went a little crazy and ate like, 10 at a time haha ughh im gonna gain so much weight. but anyway now my intestines are flipping around and im gassy and have that nasty sulphur smelling gas. Does anyone else have a problem with chocolate like Hershey Kisses? ive eaten them before but :( i guess no more for me!
I'm going to assume they weren't sugar free since I know you know to avoid that stuff. I can't say that chocolate anything has ever bothered me before, but I think it can for some people. I seem to recall a bunch of people on here at one point in time saying they will eat chocolate even though they know it will bother them.

Aside from gift chocolates which are hard to resist and improper to refuse, might I suggest, if you have a chocolate additiction, to eat really expensive imported chocolate. My favorite is a Mika bar. It's made in Switzerland, but I know it can be found in the British Isles. Cadbury's chocolates are pretty good--definitely above a Hershey's--but they're still not the best of the best. You can usually find Lindt (Swiss) chocolates at Wal-Mart (I get them at a frou-frou grocery store called The Fresh Market), and then there are the Ferrero Roche chocolates. I got some of them for Valentines--yum, yum. And Godiva, of course, but that's really pushing expensive. Toberlone is also good, but I get annoyed when the carmel bits get stuck in my teeth.

ANYWAYS, the point of the matter is, expensive chocolate is so much richer and better tasting than the cheap chocolate they put on regular candy bars and the like, that a little bit will satisfy you. And if chocolate is going to make you sick, it might as well 1) be good chocolate and 2) require as little as possible to satiate you so you will get as little sick as possible.

Just my chocolate theory. :-)
Lost of people here can't handle chocolate. I love chocolate and can't give it up. Usually I don't have a problem, but if I eat too much I will.

Here is an old post I was able to dig up: Chocolate - friend or foe?

I'll eat chocolate once in a blue moon. I love it, but I don't miss it. I also will only eat certain chocolates, usually Lindt chocolates and one or two pieces seem to take care of the chocolate urge for a couple of months.

I LOVE DARK CHOCOLATE!!!
it is ridiculous! my grocery list always contains chocolate, i have to keep it in the house. BUT it has to be dark! now with my whole no-gluten thing though i can only eat certain brands, for instance the Hersheys huge bars are gluten free, but the company will not promise thier smaller versions are... shady huh? so we buy the huge bars, i break them up and keep them in the fridge...
i have found the European chocolates are mostly gluten free, too many to list...

i haven't found a distinct problem when eating the dark stuff--now milk chocolate is another story--but i perfer the dark, so no big loss....

take care,
bunny

Dark chocolate is good for you. All those antioxidants. Pity I find it too bitter, but I guess I could always sprinkle some sugar on top of it!

Happy Birthday.
Haha thanks everyone! I LOVE dark chocolate too, its my favorite and it actually seems to soothe my stomach if its upset!!! weird, huh? so i guess, poor me, i'll have to go buy some high quality chocolate. ;)
