Bipolar, senior citizen, problem solving, new positive attitude

OK, here’s the deal. I’m all of the above, bipolar, senior citizen, having problems but with a new positive attitude.

For the past several months, I’ve had my share of problems.

First my printer went out.

Then, the hot water heater went out, then a few days later the dishwasher went out, then a few days later my computer went out, then a few days later my ageing electric car went out.

Before the printer went out, I said, if anything else goes wrong, I can’t take it.

And then, sure enough, due to my error, the printer went out, and I got a paper jam on a printer I’m not familiar with and I didn’t know how to fix it.

And I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Then all the other started happening.

Then after all of that, AT&T, which I just got switched to, sends me an email that says I owe them money.

I try to pay the bill online, and their website keeps telling me, “That’s not your account number, that’s not your user name, that’s not your password. If you’re having trouble, call our help line.”

I call their help line and the recording says, “What’s your account number?” which is what their computer just told me is the wrong number.

I finally give up, and today woke up refreshed and started on that problem again.

This time when I called, from the first I just started saying to the recording, “Speak to an agent, speak to an agent, speak to an agent.”

I finally got an agent. It turned out my account number that I had used the previous day was correct even though their computer/web site said it wasn’t. Got a new password and user name.

I got through all of that by staying positive and trying to solve only one problem at a time.

And by my already being on medicine for my bipolar which helps keep me level.

But some years ago learning to be positive when trying to solve a problem was a big help.

Hi Spencer,

Welcome to HealingWell.

As they say, when it rains, it pours. Kudos to you for taking things one thing at a time. I go through the same thing with online bill paying. Often they tell me I am not who I am and when I try to start a new profile they say someone already has the name or something to that effect.

Keep on keeping on.

Hugs, Karen…
